The house is wonderful; everything is top-quality and the owners are extremely friendly, helpful and just all-round lovely people who know the surrounding area very well and give excellent and totally reliable restaurant advice.....even for restaurants further along our travel route (e.g. in Inverness).   Even better than expected and would certainly return. From the moemant we arrived James was very welcoming showing us around the facilities and to our room. The house is immaculate, very comfortable and stylish. Our room was perfect for our two night stay, very comfortable and it was great to relax with a DVD and bottle of wine. Very spacious place with lots of different public areas meant we could wander about and not feel like we were creeping around someones house!   We liked the fact that our room was like a little house because it was away from the main house and had its own front and back door, the back door led onto your own little veranda with table and chairs, also once outside into the garden/ woodland you only had to walk to the bottom of the garden and you had your own private part of the river to eit... wat mensen zeggen » her sit by or go for a swim. The surroundings were very romantic and so quiet, you are near the village but feel as if you are miles away. The village - We received a lovely warm welcome by Alf and our room was absolutely gorgeous - very fresh and airy and spacious and with gorgeous views over the River Tay from our bedroom window. I loved how you could tick on a menu the night before what you would like for breakfast - my brie/tomato/bacon rosti was perfection especially as I could eat it whilst watching 2 red squirrels scampering around the garden overlooking the river.   I loved the nice welcome we received from Lucy and Debbie they made us feel really welcome. The room was lovely and the bed was super comfy. The bathroom was spacious it also had a super shower. The hotel is well situated for a short stroll into the town. The room and bathroom were luxurious the staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfast was the best i have we have ever had when on holiday, and as we are in our late 60's and have travelled a lot, I think this speaks for itself.   Stayed in Garden Apartment - lovely and cosy at rear of main building but very private and nice surroundings. We asked to be moved from our allocated Craigower Appt as it just didn't have a cosy feel to it - the staff couldn't do enough to help and offered us two other appts. - The accommodation was excellent.   The Old Mill offered a very warm welcome, immediate help with the free onsite parking and info on the facilities. Our room was clean and cosy and the bar/restaurant offered a great breakfast - even though they did not have so much hot breakfast choices for vegetarians they had no qualms about going off menu to provide for us. Well don - Everything. This is a classy, charming and yet funky place! beautifully decorated, very clean, and every staff member was kind and helpful and cheerful. We were impressed with the breakfast room and beautifully laid out buffet. Hot a La carte dishes came swiftly, you could see through to the kitchen where the cook deftly juggled the pots and pans. Our room was fabulous, refurbished to a modern high standard, with a stand-out bathroom/ shower (a rarity in the UK in our experience).

It is within walking distance to the main street downtown and two distilleries.   Perfect place for a family vacation. Lots of space for kids to run around and no need to worry about them making noise since there's no one nearby to bother. A nice walk down the 18th fairway to reach the clubhouse for decent food. The town of Pitlochry is quite lovely with a surprising number of things to do.
