Set in heart of Matlock, this Edwardian-style hotel is just south-east of the Peak District National Park and within easy reach of attractions such as Alton Towers, Drayton Manor Park and Donnington Races.
Stay in the local area for Lumsdale hidden valley, the mock medieval Riber Castle and Hall Leys Park. Take a trip in the cable cars at The Heights of Abraham for spectacular views.
Back at the hotel, relax with a drink at either Rochelle's Wine Bar or the Old English Bar, or enjoy a meal in the restaurant. Those with excess energy can dance the night away at Pulse nightclub.

ease of parking, choice of breakfast places outside hotel, its position near centre of Matlock and Matlock Bath, friendly receptionist, actually, with breakfast at Wetherspoons the BandB package was £63 (£31.50 per person), which is really quite good in this day and age. Having read the other reviews I wasn't expecting much so was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. The room was basic but clean and the bed was very comfy. If the noise from the nightclub bothers you I can recommend a champagne mojito from the bar across the road.alle beoordelingen »
A good clean hotel good service and we would stay again. Location of hotel and car park. Fantastic manager, he recommended two places to eat and both were excellent. The rooms were clean and well presented. The staff were polite and moved us very swiftly when we didnt want to stay in the first room. there was free parking during our stay which was good and they let us stay parked there when we went for breakfast after check-out which was very good. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. It was also in the perfect location being in central Matlock. The accommodation was better than we feared due to the price. The friendly service and the excellent taxi recommendation. the room and the bathroom was nice too!. As hotels go it was all right but nothing special. It happened to be inthe right location for my business meeting. Very clean rooms, Lots of space. and although there is a night club next door, there wasnt much noise. The room was large and it had a nice en suite bathroom. very clean room. The amount of laughs we had, the hotel was like Faulty Towers!!. The room was very large and clean - staff pleasant. Couldn't really comment as we didn't stay in the hotel for very long. We had a day at the Chatsworth country show then went out for drinks and some nice food at the very good and recommended curry house on Dale road. Clean and spaceous room with ensuite. Room space. The hotel was barely adequate and being the only one in Matlock, there wasnt a lot of choice.Internet access. Very little. Getting our money back for one night we refused to stay! Leaving, and finding a bed a breakfast. noisy night club/bar downstairs and over the road, the bar downstairs was full of young people!! :-) but the beer was good, actually I was so tired that the night club didn't disturb me that much.We had to have our breakfast at Wetherspoons as the owner said he had only been there 9 days and had not found a chef yet but no problems and the breakfast at wetherspoons was exelent recomemded by the owner, we enjoyed our stay. No hair dryer or dressing table in our room.Checking in was not until 3pm and the hotel was unstaffed until then, it just meant we had a few hours in town dragging around luggage. The lack of a breakfast service. We didn't stay in the 1st room we were shown as the lock on the door was broken (it didn't lock!!!) It was quite noisy as there is a club downstairs but wasnt as bad as i was expecting it to be after reading previous reviews. It needs renovating but the bathroom has been recently decorated and it bodes well for the future plans for the hotel. Also concerned by the nightclub next door but the music was faint and we were informed that it was the closing down.It did seem like it was closed down until it opened up around 3.30pm. Itwould be good if the answerphone message stated that the hotel opens atthis time to reassure customers. too noisy at night, only 2 tv channels. Too many stairs to bedrooms and staircase too steep. When we got there it looked like the hotel had been shut down. It didnt give a good impression. It was right next to a late night bar and taxi rank and we couldn'tsleep until 4am!. don't go for the breakfast as we gave up after half an hour of waiting but they hapily gave us a refund. Lack of food available at the hptel, Noise from night club downstairs. The small details that were not sorted, that would be easy to fix.Our room was above a night club - very Noisy!. Obviously you pay for what you get. We felt it was a bit like 'Fawlty Towers'. Cleanliness outside with cigarette butts everywhere. Lack of staff and closed doors between the times of 7-8. My husband had to call me on mobile to let him back in the hotel!!! Unfortunately there was no hairdryer and other little bits that you would expect to have in your room. As mentioned its what you have paid for. There was no staff, on arrival at 6pm the hotel was locked up and because of the location it was difficult to get reception so was waiting awhile. Accomodation is above bar and nightclub which played loud music till well after midnight. There was no staff around and no breakfast facilities, other rooms in hotel were booked by large numbers of people drinking and playing music till next morning!. Noise. no receptionist,no tiolet roll, above a night club and wine barr. The tolets were dirty. I asked the staff to clean them and put tissue. The tissue was left in front of the room. Noone cleaned the toilet. On the morning we were leaving the hotel we realised there was noone in the building but we. The building was completely empty. Whom would have we contacted if something has happened to us? Please do not recommend this hotel. It is dangerous. The room was not cleaned by hotel staff for the whole weekend. There were two night clubs directly beneath my room which were very noisey until around 0400 hrs each evening. Lots .. The room was cold - one heater was on full but was under a wooden window and the heat escaped. No desk to work at. TV - at first no remote then I was given a remote that did not work. No breakfast. No hot water, tv did not work, no longer catered for breakfast (unlikethe advert), and no sleep!!!!!. All of it, lack of staff, lack of maintenance, wrongly advertising food,.
