  The location is beautiful and peaceful and the staff were friendly and charming. We stayed in the Premier Suite (Room 14) with stunning views overlooking the small lake to the front from the bedroom and the paddock/fields with horses and sheep to the side from the sitting room. The welcome basket is a fantastic idea and we were most glad and grate... wat mensen zeggen » ful for this, it made for a special start to the stay. Excellent thought given to the little extras from the toiletries to the hair dryer and hot wate - The eye for detail, from knowing my name the moment I entered the hotel, showing me my room, explaining the various routines and opportunities. I really liked the flexibility, when I said I would like to have dinner, immediately I was offered a table outside in the beautiful weather, overlooking a lake and farmland. The staff were terrific, nothing was too much trouble.

  Lovely warm, time warped friendly atmosphere, perfect for mid Wales. I stayed in an ETAP the night before and it was much more expensive and of much less quality. - the location only 200 yards from the bowls where i was playing at 9.30 so no rush to get up and eat a breakfast served from 8am til 9am

  My wife and I were only staying at Portland House for one night, to break up our journey down to South Wales, so I was particularly impressed by the way that we were so warmly welcomed by owner Ruth. She was very friendly and helped us to relax as soon as we arrived. She and her husband Ross were also full of useful information, about the town, i.... wat mensen zeggen » e. suggesting places for our evening meal and the types of cuisine, pricing and distances etc. They were also able to give us plenty of information ab - Stayed in Room 1 - fabulous huge room with en-suite bathroom, wardrobe, period fireplace, 'home comforts' (TV, tea/coffee facilities) and best of all, extremely comfortable and cosy king-size bed. Room was spacious and tastefully decorated. Breakfast (full British) was delicious and arrived quickly when ordered. Ruth, the hard-working co-owner/receptionist/waitress/chef(!), was very friendly and helpful - it was nice to get a text from her a couple of days before my arrival asking what time

  Upon arrival, we were made to feel completely at home. The room and facilities were comfortable and left nothing to be desired. the food was locally resourced and professionally presented. Nothing was too much trouble for the proprietors. The conference facilities are excellent. We arrived as total strangers but left as friends. Such was the cari... wat mensen zeggen » ng concern. - We arrived quite later having worked all day but Sue the owner couldn't of been more obliging if she tried , she carried my case upstairs ,she brought us more tea and a pot . Breakfast was lovely . Even though we stayed 1 night I felt very relaxed and so I have already booked for 2 nights next year !! Excellent

The very excellant dinner prepared and served in the restaurant, all of the courses were of very high standard as was the service. Very high standards throughout - Guidfa House provided the highest level of comfort, the food wasexcellent . The host was knowledgeable on local attractions and alwayson hand to assist and make our stay a wonderful relaxing time. Myhusband and I have no negative comments to make at all.We look forwardto returning there soon.

Mid-Wales is a gr - Beautiful countryside surrounding, very friendly and welcoming owners, beautiful cosy peaceful cottage. Eggs and cakes a nice welcoming touch and the birdlife right outside the window is a treat to see. Lots of things to do locally including fishing and visiting the red-kite centre, walking opportunities and lots to do in the local spa town.Time your visit right and you may get to sample the chocolates and confectionery handcrafted by the owners and available to buy to take home with you!!
