  We really didn't know what to expect aside from reading reviews. It's different! We wanted different. We didn't want a typical hotel room. We wanted character and I feel that is exactly what we got. Great location! Fabulous service from the bar, restaurant, and other staff! Free wifi and breakfast each morning were a huge plus! They even provided a tv and playstation along with games which was nic - The Guy Fawkes Inn is such a great place, the location is spot-on for a stay in York, the place is steeped in history and the rustic charm of the inn is amazing, you feel like you've travelled back in time once you step through the door, but in a good way :) The staff are amazing, very professional and very friendly, you feel at home straight away.   another enjoyable stay on one of the busiest weekends ever!yet staff still had time to show us to our room and show us around. we love this place for its quirkiness and the beer garden which our room overlooked - had to remember to shut the bathroom blind or people would have been treated to a view of us ! good value excellent food and staff who r... wat mensen zeggen » eally do listen to what you want and try to do it. good mix of age group in staff and nice to have a pub where you can talk without shouting over loud - Although I have ticked city trip, because that is what we did in York, The Lamb & Lion comes under a different description. It has lots of character. We stayed in the Attic, it was beautiful. Really comfortable. Brilliant being in the middle of York, parked in Marygate carpark and didn't go back until we left. Staff lovely, left the phone charger in the room when we left, Manager posted it back to me next day, no problem. Breakfast delightful. Would definitely go back.

  The staff that were there were excellant and could not do enough for us.. Its situation to york was fantastic only a five min walk. - The staff member we dealt with at reception was very friendly, helpful and always willing to help at any point.

  The new managers had just taken over and had many issues to deal with. They made us feel very welcome and accomodated our needs well. The hotel needs some TLC but is comfortable and the rooms were adequate for the price. Overall, a nice place to stay near to the city (15 Min) walk or bus directly outside, generous parking area. - it was very hand... wat mensen zeggen » y for the city, the rooms were clean and comfortable. there was ample free parking . the rates were very good . this is a very basic facility, but I would stay again. there was some road noise but I suspect they are in a conservation area so double glazing is not possible

  It was close to city centre, about 15 minutes walk. Cute little room with a comfy bed. Not a lot of frills, but didn't feel like anything I needed was really lacking. Had a cozy inn kind of feel to it. The staff was very nice and let us keep our car in the car park after we checked out so we could wander the city a bit. - friendly people , good b... wat mensen zeggen » eer , cheap good accomadation , after reading some of negative reports was bit dubious , but we couldnt find anything wrong . the smell of the restraunt was unnoticable , the room was good , nothing falling apart as had been reported , we would definatley stop there again
