Excellent food. quiet relaxed location. Fantastic value for money. lovely location, and it was my wedding and everything went smoothly, staff excellent.All the wedding party enthused about the hotel, and said what a good choice it was.Food at wedding buffet and evening meals and breakfasts was superb. atmosphere and location and grounds were particularly good. The food was excellant.

Did not enjoy my stay. lack of a lift as we had to bring our old dog who was unable to manage the stairs so we ended up lifting her up and down them. The gym was small, the machines were rusty and the pools is only just bigger than a bath!. food quality was very poor. Lack of heating in the bedroom for 24 hours. bar shut early, some of the rooms urgentley need update got room cheaper on line through website would of been most disapointed if paid full price. Perhaps no lift but it is an old building!. Small stuffy room. Very small dinner menu , Food edible but not to be recommended to otherts. Breakfast OK. The weather was quite cold but the arrangements to heat the room wereinadequate and the towel rail was broken and, following our complaintwas attended by plumbers and determined to need replacing. We could onlyget the shower to work if one of us held the mechanism on the tap unitwhile the other showered and the temperature control was, to say thebest, fluctuating. bathroom could have been cleaner. lack of hot water for showers. Smells like an old folks home. The "cocktail bar" does not exist. Thepool was out of use. The radiator in the bedroom was not working. Thebar shuts at 11pm. The walls are paper thin. There is no lift. Therestaurant and breakfast area remind me of my old school hall.Bar food was extremely poor and overpriced. Drinks too were very expensive. Room was very small with trouser press in the wardrobe so any time you wanted to press a pair of trousers you had to empty the wardrobe. Plumbing - unable to add cold water to the bath. Hot water scalding. If the basin tap was turned it affected the shower.No wi-fi in the room.The staff were helpful but food unimaginative and not up to standard of other chains.Showers in both bedrooms did not work. One bedroom was above noisy wedding disco. Lack of bar staff. Indifferent reaction from staff when told of malfunctioning showers and noise. Bar service was terrible. Lunch was very mediocre. En suite was poor. Bedroom was very out of date and didn't like plastic mattress covers. Kettle cord not long enough, had to grovel on floor to make tea. Tea was rubbish. Wrong newspaper delivered, receptionist wrote title of paper down incorrectly. We weren't informed of leisure facilities available to us.The room that I was in was very small for a double room. Extremely warm despite not having any heating on.
