I was there solo. but Certainly - When we arrived after a long journey, we were so welcomed by Hesther, it felt like being part of her family. We were shown around and the house had a wonderful feeling, especially knowing it dated from 12th century. The views to the mountains were so beautiful, i wish we were staying there longer.The owner was very friendly and made our daughter feel special, cooking something she liked. We fell in love with this place and hope to return one day.

  Beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean,this lovely small hotel deserves four stars rather than two. It was slightly difficult to find (sat-nav very helpful) but is a lovely peaceful rural retreat. It is set in vineyards and is on the eddge of the little town of Gaintza,which had great strategic significance in Napoleonic times.   We were travelling with our dogs and had a superb room overlooking the bay. The hotel is an old townhouse with loads of character. We had booked a space in their garage . . . Getaria old town is three beautiful old streets going along the narrow strip with the bay on one side and the calmer - again sandy larger bay with harbour for fishing fleet... wat mensen zeggen » and yachts and motorboats plus a designated bathing area. We ate at the May Flower [a fish grill restaurant] overlooking the port - superb; there - Fabulous town, wonderful food, Hotel is built on a narrow ridge above the bay where you can watch the surfers from your room with a floor to ceiling glass wall. We chose the old style room with wooden shutters looking north with our own balcony and view of red tile roofs, the church bell tower and the ocean in the back ground. Just wonderful!!!! This is a superior hotel and staff; just sorry we were not staying much longer.

  As suggested by its Basque name (which was translated to me by a local to mean "a beautiful place"), an absolutely beautiful location on top of a hill, with a view of a small bay and a beacon. We could hear the roar of the sea at night! The hotel is located at about 3-4 km from the city. It is possible to walk but on the way back t - - excellent hotel if you travel by car, great location, silent in the evenings, excellent view on the sea, very friendly stuff, easy to reach to San Sebastian, good value for money. You can also travel to the mountain nearby (but somehow you need to pay 2 eur to get to the territory - private territory, we decided to refuse) Tea and coffee are available all the time.   The hotel was ideally located for us as it was relatively easy arriving and leaving by car and was a nice walk ( about 20 mins) to the old town, beach and other sites. Onsite parking was available - make sure you get your room card from reception before parking car or you can't use lifts to the hotel! The restaurant wasn't open during our stay, but cafe at the front was good for a drink or a - The staff were very friendly and spoke English. We chose this hotel as we were arriving by car and didn't want to drive right into the city centre. The walk into town only takes 10-15 mins. We also loved the movie theme of the hotel and got the Bob Hoskins room. The rooms have DVD players and you can hire for free, movies from the hotel to watch, so we thought this was pretty cool. Can't comment on the breakfast as we went an ate elsewhere.
