  The hotel is a little jewel in the middle of the old town, just behind the Alcazar and the Cathedral, overlooking a beautiful little cobbled square, lined with orange trees. The sangria there was the best I had on my trip to Andalucia. On the door of each room is a city scene painted by a local artist. The service is extremely helpful and kind.   The apartment was literally right around the corner from the Cathedral. Plenty of room to relax. Loved our stay. It was great to have the feeling of coming and going whenever we wanted. We've always stayed at hotels, but this was great. Check Teresa bar opposite for delicious tapas and try local 'tinto de verano' drink which is a mix of wine with lemon. The hostal is located in a very old house so ready for a piece of history. Place is clean and quiet, friendly staff. This place has - The place had loads of character, we loved the quirky shapes and designs of the place and our room was delightful, and there are some lovely public spaces. The location was absolutely brilliant, right in the heart of Santa Cruz and close to the cathedral. It was amazing to get such good value accommodation in this spot. The staff were lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay here. The facilities are basic, but for people on a budget, the Vergara is a cut above.

  The room was basic, but cosy, and we had a private bathroom with a shower. The hosts were polite and helpful. Generally, everything was ok, but the location of the hostel is its main asset. From our balcony, we could even see a bit of the cathedral!
