Located in the Grietjie Private Nature Reserve on the banks of Olifants River, Kulungi Riverside Lodge offers luxury, air conditioned accommodation with a private game park. There is an outdoor pool and a garden. The wooden thatched chalets and tents are traditionally decorated and feature a private patio, minibar and a tea and coffee maker. All accommodation types have an en suite bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. The chalets have a fully equipped kitchenette and braai facilities. A buffet breakfast and full English breakfast is served daily in the dining room, Boma area or on the patio. The restaurant serves traditional South African and international cuisines. Guests can sunbathe poolside on the lawn areas or walk through the tropical gardens. There is a family friendly bar featuring a lounge area with a cable TV. Staff at the Lodge can assist with bookings for game drives, hiking and local activities such as safari’s and river cruises. Kruger National Park is within 35 km away. Hendrik Van Eck Airport is a 10 minute drive away and an airport shuttle is available upon request. Secure parking is available on site.

Travelling information

Directions from Johannesburg Take the N12 to Witbank and join the N4 headiing east. Take the Belfast turnoff onto the R540 through Lydenburg and Ohrigstad. Go through the Strijdom tunnel, 14km after the tunnel take the R36 heading to Tzaneen, then take the R530 to your right towards Phalaborwa. At Mica turn left and drive for 22km until you see a signposted turnoff called Grietjie to your right. Take this turnoff until you get (after 1km) to Grietjies main gate. We are a futher 6km straight into the Grietjie Reserve (signposted). Drive safely and we look forward to meeting you.
