  A friend and I stayed at Hotel Canal Grande for three glorious days in February. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of the central bus station. You can take a direct bus from Marco Polo Airport to this station for 6 euro. Ask for directions to the hotel once you arrive at the station. The walk is no more than 10 minutes. Although it is not on a canal, it's only 20 seconds walk to Grand Canal, 30 min leisuer walk to St. Marco's Squre, and 10 min walk to St. Lucia Train Station which is very convenient to us as we were travelling by train. Staff were delightful and friendly, all spoke excellent english and could not do enough to make sure our stay was a memorable one.
