The property is very interesting. Traditional, very well maintained and decorated with great taste. Our superior room was very spacious, overlooking the garden, and the bathroom was modern. Breakfast is very complete. We really enjoyed the heated outdoor pool, excellent for spending the afternoon. Overall a great base for visiting the Loire Valley.

Chateau de Portail was a wonderful experience and Claude Herbert was an amazing host. It was nice to be welcomed so warmly into his home with nowhere out of bounds. The house is charming, warm, comfortable and elegant with a relaxed feel to it thanks to Claude Herbert's hospitality. As a family with two young girls (aged 3 and 5) this can sometimes be an annoyance to other guests and the host but we never felt like this. The hotel is a very nice B&B with a great room and a delicious breakfast. It is located just 5 min walking from the city center and in a very well located area among the castles of the region.
The owners are very polite and helped us with everything we needed. Great choice! I would definetely stay there again!

A magical stay at this totally renovated chateau, with huge bedroom overlooking the property, and fabulous ultra-modern bathroom, all done with exquisite taste. They sorted out our need for private parking, while the trees outside the hotel were being felled, and normal parking arrangements were disrupted. The.
