  The Chateau exceeded all our positive expectations. Claude,the owner , and his staff couldn't be more welcoming, charming or helpful. The furnishings and meal service are of the finest quality and provide for a very elegant experience in a most comfortable setting. We (including our two teenage daughters) felt very much at home. We stayed in the 3... wat mensen zeggen » -room suite which had two pretty bedrooms (with large comfortable double beds in each) and one nice sized modern bathroom with shower. Breakfast on te - Chateau de Portail was a wonderful experience and Claude Herbert was an amazing host. It was nice to be welcomed so warmly into his home with nowhere out of bounds. The house is charming, warm, comfortable and elegant with a relaxed feel to it thanks to Claude Herbert's hospitality. As a family with two young girls (aged 3 and 5) this can sometimes be an annoyance to other guests and the host but we never felt like this.   + Enormous space (we were lucky to get the master suite) + I guess we were off-season, so the we paid 104 euro and not 200 + The bathroom was the size of my apartment in Washington DC and the tub fit two people comfortably + The candle and dimmed lights were provided by the B&B which made my anniversary celebration super romantic + Coffee and ... wat mensen zeggen » breakfast were great too and the lady who served us was very sweet - The property is very interesting. Traditional, very well maintained and decorated with great taste. Our superior room was very spacious, overlooking the garden, and the bathroom was modern. Breakfast is very complete. We really enjoyed the heated outdoor pool, excellent for spending the afternoon. Overall a great base for visiting the Loire Valley.
