The hotel is directly opposite Central Station and most of the city sites are within walking distance of the hotel. Even though the pub is open until 4am, which may put people off, you cannot hear any music, well you certainly can't on the 23nd Floor.
Was such a great location Across the road from Central station was awesome
The restaurants in the area were excellent
The rooms were spacious and surprisingly quite considering the location
Would definitely stay at the Royal Exhibition again.
This was a one night "transit" stop in Sydney and as we arrived late evening and left early morning we don't have enough of an overall impression to comment but it did what we needed which was a hotel close to the railway station.
Lovely person at reception (I wasn't happy at having my passport photocopied and she handled that with aplomb)
Clean room with everything we needed
Separate entrance and very easy to come and go
Good price
Comfortable bed.
Large clean room.
Ensuite bathroom.
Location, location, location (across the street from exit 6 of the central station!)
Private 24hr entrance.
5 minute walk from the (free!) busline 555 to George Street and Circular Quay.
Very well furnished big room with comfortable beds, big clean bathroom, coffee making facilities. Bar downstairs served good food. Central (station of Sydney) is across the street & gives access to all the trains.
Clean, convenient, comfortable hotel, right next to Central station, easy access to CBD, Cicular Quay etc. Good value food in the Bistro. Very good cafe for breakfast about a block away. Staff pleasant and helpful.
Hotel is nice historical building. Near main train station and close to all things to be seen in sydney (walking distance to darling harbour, city metro 1 min walk).
Room basic and small but clean.
Staff fine.
We always stay at The Royal Exhibition Hotel as it is very central for our business. The staff always remember us and are more than helpful. The girls behind the bar are great they treat us like fanily.
Great location so, so easy to central station the entrance is right across the road perfect, the meals wear very good you won't leave hungry and very reasonable, staff friendly and helpfully.
Extreme good value for money being right in centre of town, close to Central. Double glazed windows shut out noise underneath.
Clean and spacious room.
Very friendly and cooperative staff.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful.
Rooms were cleaned daily, fresh towels every day and bed linen.
Extremely handy to Central Station, 24 hour convenience stores, restaurants.
Handy for Central Station which we needed to be.The bistro food was good and the staff very helpful. The only negative would be that there was no Reception, had to check in at the bar.
The location was great - right beside the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, let me check in early and gave advice on where to get coffee, go for runs, etc.
The staff were very friendly and particularly helpful. In this respect it is one of the best hotels I have stayed in.Very strong customer service levels.
Great location, everything within walking distance.
Perfect for travellers who don't have a car.
Just across the road from train station and buses...
Very centrally located. Very economical and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble to the staff. Counter meals were appetizing and economical.
Friendliness of the staff, who were eager to assist;despite first impressions our room was quiet;location was great for us,opposite Central.
We thought the room had stately grandeur and the staff were very friendly. The room was immaculate and fresh, as well as the bathroom.
Fantastic location for Central Station and the bars and restaurants of Surry Hills. Large rooms with classic decor and styling.
Comfortable accommodation in older style hotel with many in-house facilities - excellent location adjacent to Central Station.
Friendly and helpful staff. Ability to store all our luggage after checkout. Lovely refurbished and furnished room.
The staff . . . the room . . .
the bathroom. The food . . .
the wine. It was quiet and near
the train station.
It's just a great basic hotel in the city that's great value for
money - plus I got a room upgrade for free.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, great bar downstairs, close to restaurants, Central train station and buses,.
Proximity to Central Railway Station, easy to get to after a train journey. Meals available until 10pm.
Proximity to Central Railway Station. Clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced meals. Pleasant staff.
Very quiet, considering a bar underneath, main road and train station nearby.
Pub food was good value.
Really good value for money in a great location close to central station. Nice and quiet rooms.
Good location beside central train station, good bar, friendly staff, and clean tidy rooms.
Loved the style of the hotel, the room was spacious & the bathroom lovely & clean.
Friendliness of staff. Large room. Lovely warm bar area downstairs. Security. Location.

Food.
Quality cheap meals Opposite central rail Friendly staff Room safe.
Staffs are very nice, the location is very good, safe and confer!.
The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you.
Position directly opposite Central Station was excellent.
Excellent food , good service, would stay there again.
The price for what you get was excellent for Sydney.
Great location next to central station and cbd.
The room was quiet despite being above a pub.
No Bathroom products except soap, for the price of the room I would
expect them. Think the price should be around $120. We paid $160.
As a women on my own, the pub was extremely busy on the Friday night and tables were limited. I'm not sure i would recommend the food, unless it was because it was so busy.
Nowhere to hang my toilet bag in the bathroom.
Hotel reception is at the bar of the pub below between the betting cashier and the draught (minor annoyance).
Room looks a little bit old, ac system was noisy.
Not being able to stay longer.
Pub over road which caused sleeplessness.
It became a little noisy around 10am - 2pm when the rooms were cleaned.
Beds need to have more pillows for example, there was only 1 pillow per guest and same with towels.
The one and only thing I didn't like was the poor lighting in the rooms.
Nothing.
nothing to report ...
Hard to get wet in the shower.
Unfortunately the front desk mistakenly kept my passport identification and I was shocked that when I phoned to see if my passport was with them, I was not offered any apology whatsoever or suggestion that it could be sent out to me, but instead were accused of smoking in the room. When I explained this not to be true the call was abruptly ended.
Rooms at the front of the hotel (opposite main road) can suffer from excessive noise.
Everything was perfect, so no negatives.
The elevator didn't seem to work
when departing May 1 (early).
Apparently there was some stuff up where staff didn't enter my
details in the computer so I got charged a no show fee, I had no idea
didn't affect me, but was some drama back at the hotel sorting it
out. The penalty fee got reimbursed. But didn't really need to know
about it beyond it being explained. Management were critical of staff
which never a good look.
Night safe was broken in my room as well as the bar fridge.
No Breakfast.
no dis likes.
Some sort of loud constant mechanical noise that hummed very loudly throughout the night. When I was on my flight the next day, the hum of the plane engines reminded my of that same noise the night before. Not much sleep.Don't rent Room 12.
Nothing.
nothing.
Poor wi-fi signal (I had to get out of the room to get connected), even though I paid to have wi-fi in my room.
some noisy plant / air conditioning seemed to be just outside the room. Very noisy at times. WiFi didn't reach my room.
Motor noise from some kind of air conditioning outlet attached to outside wall of room kept me awake for few hours.
Nothing.
Light came into the room during the night from under the door and at the top of the curtains - next time I'll take a sleeping mask.
Noise from guests in room above.
Room price increased from $100 to $140 per night Air con on the blink.
Only there is no WIFI and slippers.
The only out door eating area was not smoke free.
The pillows.
Room was not ready till approx 3:30pm when advertised book in time
was 2:00pm.
a bit expensive like most hotels in sydney.
