This is the real Hawaii! Our children visited on the lanai and cracked fresh macadamia nuts. In the morning we drank rich Kona coffee, from the local landscape and delighted in sharing adventures and insiders knowledge over a perfect breakfast. Easy location to beaches, restaraunts, and sunny Kona weather. Kurt's family home surpasses any destination hotel or resort. We longed for it after moving on to other parts of the island. 5 stars.,

We liked the price and that the rooms were spacious. We loved having two balconies and that the room had dishes and a kitchen if we wanted to cook. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had a problem with the air conditioner in my room making clunking sounds when turned off and I was all prepared to demand a new room, however, after reporting it to the front desk it was fixed by maintenance by the time I returned in the afternoon. Considering the price of other hotels in the area it was good

Staff were really friendly and got an upgrade on our room which was nice. Room was massive and had a bit to sit outside although it was just overlooking the street outside. Good watermelon water at reception on a hot day! Close enough to the beach without paying beachfront prices.

Stayed here for 1 night just to sleep after a late night flight in before moving onto the beach front. Staff were friendly and offered us a free upgrade. Room was very clean though dated. Although away from the beach it is really only a few minutes away and you can still see the ocean. Great for travelling on a budget in Honolulu. -

The room was of good size and the view was nice. There is LAN internet in the room with high speed. Also there is a cafe and a shop right in the building, which is very handy.

Toby and Kirby are superb hosts! Since they've lived in the area for decades, they have an intimate knowledge of the north short of Kauai, and of its residents -- chatting with them was a bit like being an insider!
Toby's breakfasts are superb, and the home is beautiful, and supremely comfortable. The kitchen and living room were always open to guests and we took full advantage of it.
You could have as much privacy or be more social with guests and the hosts, as you preferred.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Its location to Whalers Village and the beach are perfect. Our view of the ocean and the golf course were great and we had a five minute walk to the beach cabana where they had beach back rests and towels free to use for the hotel guests.
