WE did tell them it was our anniversary but it was a terrific surprise.   Vintage feel. Well maintained. Super friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. The rugs in the elevators changed everyday to tell you what day it is (good when you're on vacation!).   Beautiful hotel. History in and around the hotel kept us busy for hours. We never re- entered our vehicle once we got there. The price of the hotel compensated for staying there, and not leaving the destination for night life. We did not do any tours, but still had a great time.
