This place is a 90 year old hotel and it wears it well. It's elevator is a clicketly-clack apparatus with a scissor gate-that you have to hold the floor number for a couple of seconds to roll- did I feel safe using it? Yes. Did I think it added to the ambiance? Absolutely. The hotel obviously has had infrastructure,safety and comfort improvements

The Abigail hotel was comparatively inexpensive, basic accommodation but
quirky and my room was clean and provided a comfortable bed, clean linen
and towels, a bay window overlooking the Museum of Asian Art and a
compact bathroom. Loved the lift!

Location is central a little the wrong side of town but this is why it is cheap I thnk if you can go along with the crazies around its fine. Walking distance (5 mins) to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. We were only in town to see a concert and this hotel was a great place to stay the night afterwards. It's not really fancy, or spacious, but it's good place to rest your head for a great price. The staff was friendly as well. -
