The rooms and beds are very nice. Very good breakfast as well. Shaftesbury is a small place, so it is easy to walk from the hotel see the sights (countryside views on both sides of town + Gold Hill). The dining experience was very nice, with a waiting drink and reading the menu in the outside garden, and we got a very good table just inside the open doors (a good thing when the weather is lovely). The food was very good, though perhaps not quite as wonderful as expected.

It is a small independent hotel owned by the excellent chefs who have great experience of working in luxury hotels worldwide. They provide good accommodation with attention to detail. All staff were both friendly, helpful and professional. The restaurant is the jewel, The guys know how to cook and present superb food with an extensive wine list. Room beautifully furnished & decorated. Perfect mattress. Big bath. Perfectly quiet. Warm. Attention to every detail. Ideal breakfast; even the bread is special. For dinner, the cooking, the ingredients and the range of choice are all wonderful, and (unlike some gourmet restaurants) the quantity is fine too. Fantastic value for money. Faultless. Very nicely and recently furnished room with all the facilties. Hotel was very friendly and owners and staff very attentive. Full service breakfast was very good.
