On the banks of the River Tay, situated at the Grandtully rapids, this family-friendly inn is surrounded by scenic Perthshire countryside. It has a stunning riverside restaurant serving a menu using local ingredients and a relaxing bar with a welcoming wood-burning stove. With river views and free Wi-Fi, each contemporary, spacious room also has a flat-screen TV, and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms have a private shower room with a hairdryer, some also featuring a bath. The Inn on the Tay’s restaurant serves fresh local produce, including game and fish. Malt whiskies and local ales are available in the bar, and there is also a riverside terrace and children’s play area. The inn provides free parking, and is situated in Grandtully, just a 40-minute drive from Perth. Whitewater rafting and canoeing are possible on the River Tay, and Strathtay Golf Club is just a 2-minute drive away.

My sister and I had a wonderful room which was very large and overlooked the River Tey. The sound puts you right to sleep. Restaurant was great - good food and good value. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Area is very beautiful. Our visit was in August 2013. The Inn on the Tay is situated in a glorious location right on the banks of the Tay next to the Grandtully rapids, which are used to train the national canoeing squads. Our room was extremely comfortable and dinner and breakfast were both excellent.

Also, the room keys are very old fashioned and hard to fit into the locks. not a thing. The only (minor) complaint would be that the shower isn't great. Nothing. it was excellent,. Nothing everything was great. No WIFI as advertised. Unreliable television reception. Variable meal quality. The noisy plumbing which woke me up on 2 mornings as the whole building shakes when the hot water pump goes on. Being ignored on arrival, just sent into the bar and left there, not even served a drink!. Nothing. over priced. tv situated too low to watch from bed (baseboard of bed was raised up in middle) menu a little limited if staying a few days a little too pricey!. A small room rather sparsely furnished - no wardrobe for example - and not good value at £110 pernight when compared with other hotels visited on this trip. Food was fairly good but not outstanding. restaurant experience was very poor. quality of food was extremely disappointing and would not return on this basis. The mattress was awful, I suffer with my back and was in agony the next day. I said something to the staff and she said they had had a few complaints and had ordered a new one. They shouldn't have let the room as it was so uncomfortable, it had springs digging into my back. I wouldn't stay again as I would be worried about the other mattresses that hadn't been replaced.
