Less than 5 minutes’ drive from Alton Towers Theme Park, this B&B offers rooms with woodland or country views. Local pubs and shops are within 5 minutes’ drive of The Laurels. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Full English breakfasts and a choice of cereals are served in the spacious dining room. Each room has its own en suite facilities, satellite TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. During the warmer months, guests can relax on the patio seating area and enjoy the rural setting of the property. Free private parking is available and the Peak District National Park is just a 10-minute drive away. The quaint market town of Ashbourne can be reached after 15 minutes’ drive.

Phil and the rest of the staff went out of their way on several occasions throughout our visit to make it the best it could be. They also gave great advice in terms of planning ahead and booking cabs in advance as there is a limited availability in the area. A local map, the local pub-food service times and flyers of local attractions to make the visit the most complete as it could be. That weekend I proposed to my girlfriend and Phil and the rest of the staff helped me make it special and defi.

The B&B had a very homely feel, very clean and comfy. Bedroom no.3 Had a comfy double bed, was on the back of the property so wasn't in the sun all day, and the en-suite was nicely sized, stocked with handwash. Breakfast was also very professional and tasty. Generally a great location (for our trip to Alton Towers) and place to stay. The welcome was excellent - we were show to our room personally and given a tour of the facilities. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't have done more to make our stay any better. The family room was spacious and well equipped and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was well organised and plenty of options for us and the children. A fantastic gem of a b&b and would definitely recommend and return! 10/10. Had a fantastic stay at the laurels. Very modern, great layout. Clearly takes pride in appearance and presentation. All amenities were faultless and breakfast was fresh and delicious. Quiet location yet Close to Alton towers which is why we went there and would definately be going back. Choice of pubs within walking distance which serve food. The staff we're fab, very friendly and welcoming. Would 100% recommend. Very friendly and helpful staff. I am gluten and dairy free but nothing was too much trouble. They kindly put my milk in their fridge and it was already on the breakfast table, in a jug, come the morning without me having to ask. And the staff were more on the ball about my diet than I was, ie. saying about not cooking my mushrooms in butter etc!. The Laurels was a beautiful little place, with very friendly and welcoming staff, felt more like a family unit. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable and breakfast was great. We booked as it was a short drive from Alton Towers so it was great to be able to come back to a quiet, comfortable, relaxing place in the evenings. The family that run the laurels are lovely! Myself and my partner stayed the night before our trip to Alton towers and they could not have been more helpful and kind. It was a 5minute drive to the theme park and would recommend this as a cheap alternative to staying at the theme park yet still being very close and picturesque. We stayed here for alton towers and location is perfect. Literally ten minute drive. Although the decor is a little dated for my taste, we very quickly overlooked this as our room was immaculate and the bathroom was really clean too. Service was excellen, couple that run this place are really friendly and accommodating. Excellent location for visiting Alton Towers. Staff are brilliant. Breakfast was lovely - especially how its made the way you want it (no tomatoes etc.) The whole b&b has a complete luxury feel. Four poster bed room is beautiful - especially the en-suite (which is huge for a b&b!). I thought that the welcome we had was amazing and the staff were very friendly. The rooms were very comfortable and the shower was lovely. On our second day there we came back to our room to find the beds had been made and we had a little chocolate easter bunny on our pillows!. Made to feel very welcome on arrival and throughout our stay, staff are very friendly, room was very comfortable and everywhere was immaculately clean. Lovely breakfast, we had a window seat so were entertained by the squirrels while we ate. Would definitely stay here again. Phil and Helen and the young lady couldn't do enough for us. They provided us with top notch breakfasts every morning and the rooms were clean and cosy with good tea and coffee facilities. We all really enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back there in the future. fantastic bed and breakfast perfect for visiting alton towers theme park as only 5 minutes away by car.very clean and staff cant do enough for you.very quiet location aswell as away from the road.good pub nearby the lord nelson which is great for evening meal and drinks. Beautifull guest house,best breakfast we have ever had in a guest house we do stay in a lot of places,2 mins drive from alton towers which was ideal,2 mins walk to local pub with lovely food.will most definately be going again.all in all a lovely warm welcoming stay. When greeted we felt very welcome as the man at the desk was very polite and helpful. The room was cute and cosy and also had heating as it was chilly outside. Having tea making facilities with biscuits and a satilite tv was also a great bonus. Friendly, comfey, organized, clean,special touches, homely, good food, local recommendation provided. It was my fiancées bday and they provided champagne for both of us on arrival and dressed the bed with happy birthday sparkles and chocolates. Such a warm, friendly & welcoming B&B. the staff were great as they provided extras in our room as a surprise I had asked for my boyfriend! Breakfast was yummy. Overall great place to stay. Fantastic location, beautifully presented, very clean, great breakfast- all you can ask for!. We forgot toothpaste, and none was provided... Not so much a negative as our own fault. improved signage would make The Laurels easier to find from the road. The shower in our room was a little underpowered but we were the very last guests of the season and as we were leaving, plumbers and other workmen were arriving to redo the whole system. We look forward to returning to see all the improvements!. Breakfast time is a little too early. Really loud boiler noises could be heard at 7 in the morning but didn't put us off!. I didn't like that the double bed was two single mattresses put together on a double bed frame. the electric shower really lets the washing facilities down as very poor flow rate and sink very small. There isn't much to fault only that the kettle had a lot of lime scale and the shower wasn't very powerful, which made washing my hair take forever. No bad points. Only downside was that the shower was quite feeble - we only really noticed this as we had been soaked to the skin for two days and needed a hot, powerful shower to warm up! Also the curtains were a bit shabby compared to the rest of the beautiful room!. Wireless internet signal was unobtainable in room even though there was a wireless modem outside the bedroom door. Nothing. No faults with he premise. The bed was a bit creaky. Nothing. All good. Is hard to find. Could do with some improved directions on the website. none. Room and bathroom a bit small, although adequate, and clean and comfy. Small double bed (we are used to a King so it was hard to sleep in a smaller bed), the shower wasn't very good (ran hot and cold and not very powerful), heating not easy to control. Wasnt very clear on booking about the twin room for me and my friend, although it was only an extra £10 it was just a bit emabarrassing to be called aside on our departure. Leaving !. just the blue light from the telly when it was on standby made it a bit difficult to get to sleep :(. nothing. Unfortunately you can't get an evening meal or bar drinks at The Laurels so you have to go into the village. It's not a major problem but would have been even better not to have to go out after a long day. only thing i'd say is to have hard floor in the bathroom instead of carpet worried i was getting it too wet when showering. Walls very thin hence can hear neighbours and people talking on the stairs.
