A late Victorian mansion, Somerton House Hotel bears the distinctive red sandstone like much of the buildings within the town of Lockerbie. The hotel boasts free parking, a bar, a children’s playground, a garden and a restaurant. Within the restaurant a breakfast buffet is served in the morning. In the evening there is also an extensive menu with many of the dishes having an emphasis on locally caught fish and game. All the rooms are elegantly furnished with en suite facilities, full free Wi-Fi coverage, a LCD TV with built-in DVD/iPod players and a work desk. With easy access to the surrounding countryside, Somerton House Hotel is a 40-minute drive from the magnificent Grey Mare’s Tail Waterfall and a 4-minute drive to Lockerbie Golf Club. With only a 15-minute drive to the popular Dalton Pottery Art Café, guests can decorate their own ceramics.

The staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming and wonderfully funny too. The room was GORGEOUS! Warm and cosy but spacious. The bar/restaurant was incredibly relaxing and welcoming and the food was fabulous and the selection of drinks perfect. staff were very accomodating and friendly. Food was excellent and great value for money definitely recommend. All in all a lovely hotel with a warm and cosy atmosphere would definitely stay again.

A very pleasant weekend was enjoyed by all of us. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Dinner was good and it appeared that quite a few of the diners were local. Our room was very comfortable. The rooms were fantastic, immaculate, huge. Four poster bed was large and very comfortable. Staff were so polite and helpful A true hidden gem. Staff were excellent, room was great, good bathroom, building and grounds nice to walk around. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Cannot fault the service we received. Couldn't say there was anything I didn't like. couple of damp patches on the wall in our room. The curtain did fall down and there could be slightly better soaps etc in the bathroom. A small point, the digital tv reception was variable - not the hotel's fault. The town of Lockerbie. Nothing. Nothing really, 10minute walk from town but easily done to access local shops and pubs. Nothing. I would have liked a menu at breakfast and yogurt with the fruit which is standard in any hotel these days. I was disappointed with the evening meal, it was rather overpriced basic pub grub with a meringue for dessert that had been around for a while. would have liked a fork with my dessert and ketchup with breakfast. No dislikes. Single room is small, shower for some reason ran out of hot water for 5minutes then came back on. No wifi in the room only in public area. All adds to country feel thou.
