We loved our stay at The Sun Inn! Alex and his staff made us feel like part of the crowd with their easy-going professionalism and friendly approach. Climbing the stairway to our room above the common rooms gave us a good feel for how life was in the early 19th century when The Sun Inn was constructed. By necessity, our room was compact yet comfortable, and gave us a view over the inn's terrace tables out on to Main Street, Hawkshead! My mate was really taken with the room, calling it his Hobbi.
tutti gli commenti dei clienti » Lovely well thought out room decor wise with lots of character and everything you'd expect - twinnings tea & tea making facilities, extra comfortable bed, a decent hairdryer and good hot & roomy power shower. Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable (cheesecake at 10:30pm and putting any sports onto the tv) and created a great laid back atmosphere. Food was lovely, both breakfast and evening meals with a decent range of choice and fresh home cooked. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Made us feel right at home. The food was very good indeed. The room was clean and comfortable. A blazing log fire in the bar was a very welcome feature! Hawkshead is a lovely little place and feels typically 'Lake District'. We would certainly return to the area and the Sun Inn. We stayed for 2 nights at the sun inn..the staff are really friendly..we had room 2 it was full of character and the four poster bed was so comfortable..we ate on both nights and the food was really good...compliments to the chef best steak i've tasted..had an enjoyable stay..just wasn't long enough. The Sun Inn is a quaint historical old Inn and is full of character.The staff are friendly and helpfull and the food is excellent. Thje rooms are comfortable and are a step back in time which helps to make your visit memorable.A great place to stay regardless of which activity you wish to persue. Loved the room - we were right at the top & we had a sloping ceiling which added to the character of the place. Also the restaurant was very good - local products & it was one of the best breakfasts I've had in a B&B in a long time- PROPER sausages & bacon. Would love to return. We found the staff super friendly and accommodating. Being an inn, meant their was a friendly bustling bar to relax, read, drink. Reasonable range of interesting meals and real ale. Centre village location. Within three hours beautiful walking to Ambleside, Windermere, Grizedale. Had a great stay here, great pub and room. Modern rooms with a low roof (watch out tall people) and comfy bed. Staff were very helpful and the food was tasty. The town is little and friendly, very scenic around the area. Breakfast was huge and hearty. Awesome stay!. The building had beautiful original features and the décor was in keeping with the setting. The room was well designed and restful. The fire was lit ready for people coming in off the hills. The food was good quality with local produce on offer; lovely breakfast. I liked the location and the 'olde worlde' of the pub with all of it's quirkiness. The Staff were great where nothing you could think of would have been a problem. Breakfast and evening meals were very well prepared and presented. The location was excellent and the pub was central in the village. The food was good and a good choice of breakfast. The manager and staff were considerate and helpful unlike one of the other local pubs we visited for a meal. The staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. I asked for fresh milk for my tea. I also asked for an early check out and bacon sandwiches for our journey - all given with a smile. The food was good too. Excellent friendly staff. Good breakfast and evening meals were also excellent. The bar was a lovely place to spend the evening so we ate there all three nights of our stay. No need to look elsewhere to eat. The breakfast was well cooked and when we stayed in for an evening meal, nothing was too much trouble. staff scored 10/10 for customer service and that was every single one of them....nothin was too much trouble and they genuinly wanted u to enjoy yr stay. As keen walkers it would have been great if the bar had one or two relaxing comfy chairs waiting for our return from a walk (especially as the pub is open all day). The somewhat Spartan bar was not really conducive to long periods of occupancy!. I think the dining room lets it down..its a bit dark and cold..could do with a bit of a make over. Impossible to fault the Sun Inn and highly recommend it. Nothing. Being an old inn, some of the rooms were odd shapes and passages and stairs were challenging. Wifi was weak in the room. Nothing. The noisy plumbing as they use toilet macerators which activate everytime someone uses a toilet or tap. This can be very noisy at night but you get used to it on multiple stays. It would not put me off staying again!!!. Parking not on site and leaving the car in a public car park was worrying at first but this was the norm because of the location. However we were given a disc to enable us to park for free and the car was ok. It would not stop us going back again. The toilet flush. I think it was a chemical toilet and made a lot of noise. Also the little pots of UHT milk - a personal hate!. Sloping ceilings in room did make it a bit cramped but part of the nature of the building. Wouldn't let that put anyone off. Nil. They forgot the gluten free breakfast on the first morning but this was soon sorted out. the plumbing - but that can't be helped and didn't spoil our sleep. There was no complaints at all. Leaving to come home. A little more expensive than other b and b'S. Only some Freeview channels available on TV. I don't always need new towels and soap everyday, could imploy the towel in bath replacement policy. Nothing!. Nothing. Room small but adequate. The room was a little small and because it was it was in the eaves of the building it was a little difficult to get around the bottom of the bed from one side of the room to the other. Room was probably more suited to short people. Only booked for 2 days would have liked to stay longer. Nothing. The cups in the bedrooms were to small . The toilet made an awful racket every time it was flushed. dogs as thought nae dogs allowed. Room 1 was noisy - could hear guests talking and moving about in other rooms. Unavoidable, but pump waste water systems could disturb light sleepers. There was nothing to fault. Nothing. Some low ceilings in the rooms on the top floor and thin walls so you can clearly hear the people in the rooms next door. parking in main town carpark but unavoidable. we were allowed to bring the car around to drop off luggage though.
