The friendly and attentive atmosphere created by the staff and owners. Friendly staff, very good food, comfortable accommodation. Good sized room, comfortably furnished. The staff the food and the location. The location was central for the places we wanted to visit and the hotel itself was in a lovely peaceful location ideal for relaxing after a busy day sightseeing. Staff were friendly and although not an extensive menu what we chose was excellant. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent food in very pleasant surroundings. Rooms quiet, clean and well furnished, very comfortable.Excellent hotel, competitively priced compared with others in area. Very friendly and helpfull. Good hospitality. The Bar/Restaurant is excellent. A really nice country boozer with great food at very reasonable prices. The I doubt it very much whether you could find a better breakfast.Original features, history, location, local produce used sympathetic new build on old premises. The excellent food - dinner and breakfast, and ample, convenient car parking.Food was very good and the personel was friendly. Friendliness, food. The locale, the staff, and we had good food. Very nice just walking toyour room after dinner and wine. It's nice and quiet and you can openyour windows in the room--always a "thing" for me. I love the fresh air. In particular the friendliness of the staff. The food was excellent as was the service. Friendly staff. Good food.Good quality food. we found the food at the pub excellent we eat out a lot and recognise good food.pub food top retaurant standard. The beer, the food were good and, in fact, there was nothing that actually fell below expectation. Picturesque location, clean and comfortable room, excellent service from a very friendly staff. Friendly staff, very comfortable room and dinner in the restaurant wasgood pub food. Warm comfortable accom. Good Food. Friendly staff. Cleanliness. Friendliness of staff and quality of food. crab salad. locality. Room pleasant and in a quiet location. Food good but only one small local kipper was disappointing. I understand I would get two. Mentioned it to Owner who did not seem to be concerned about my comments.Friendly and efficient staff. Conveniently placed for the Northumbrian coast. Spacious room. Good breakfast. Evening meals of consistent quality. Staff friendly and good service.Food was excellent. Location was pleasant. Lovely room nice menu. Friendly staff, good breakfast. The food was good although having been earlish for diiner some items were not available. .was unsure whether the pub side of the hotel was open when I came back in the evening, would be nice to have a night cap. I could not fault the hotel. A bar/lounge to sit in to have a drink before or after eating would be an improvement. nowhere to sit and talk after evening meal (lounge).(We are not from Amsterdam as shown below !). The lack of a resident's lounge in which to sit before and after the evening meal, though it should be said that the staff were clearly quite happy to let us occupy our dinner table before and after our evening meal. The TV could have been a bit bigger. Minor point- the raised positioning of the bedside shelf/table - would have preferred it at bed level. The room was a bit "tired" and the matteress was uncomfortable.Silly little things needed attention in the room - e.g. bedside shelves coming off the wall, uncomfortable "dining room" style chairs (one comfortable chair would have been preferable), etc. etc. There was excessive noise from the sky light window during heavy overnight rain -like being in a conservatory- I haven't read other reviews on web site. noisy plmmbing. barking dogs in nearby kennel - management put a stop to this when complaint made. Breakfast. See above. Bed was too hard. Also management need to check or get feedback on state of rooms. Clased as luxury room, the shower room floor grouting was damaged (or not set down properly and in time water would seep under tiles. Signs of tiles on floor loosening. No lounge area to relax in after dinner. Room was tiny - only room for a bed. Towels were ofpoor quality and fraying at edges. This is definitely not a 4* hotel - which is why I chose it. While I enjoyed my stay felt breakfast was a little disorganized--ie had to wait along time for second toast rack on one mornibg only one pot of coffee given for four oeople on second morning with no sugar on table---both mornings there was four people at the table. Very hard bed and tiny single room. As recently widowed and on my own, I found the size of the room exceedingly small with hardly room to turn round. The bathroom was ok. I spent the following night in exceptional accommodation in Kelso with MArms.
