It is the best hotel I have ever stayed in, the hotel, staff, area, food, everything was just stunning and I will look forward to going back one day. The location, stunning views from car park, dining and public areas are very nice. The closeness to all the tourist attractions in Derbyshire. good service, helpful staff and a well appointed room. Liked everything about it food,staff, room, location.

Bed very comfy slept well. Location was good, great view from the car park. Staff friendly (a bit on auto-pilot, though). Everything was clean and tidy. view from the terrace. Room was comfortable. breakfast was great. nothing. We had to move bedrooms as the bedroom we were allocated was a water bed and it wasn't working. As we had never slept in that kind of bed we had no idea how they work and it was cold to sleep on. The staff were exceptionally helpful and moved us. lack of napkins for breakfast with on going building works. The food was well cooked and presented, almost entirely based on fish and steaks. I gather from the owner that they had had to adapt to guest preference, but I felt a wider choice of cuisine would have been beneficial and had we stayed a week we might have been stumped for choice. Probably been recently re-furbished so items missing from room, and some odd items ih the room. Misrepresenation of the description of the main course fro dinner. I was told the lamb would be served from the trolley at the table - it wasn'T. I was told the lamb would be pink if required - it wasn'T. I was told the vegetables would be ' roasted ' - They were not. The lamb was disappointing - overdone and dtringy and nobody came round to the table to ask ' Is everything ' alright with your meal. Food menu still very limited. Large parts of the inside of the hotel (corridors, my room, the breakfast room) need work. They are really old-fashioned, without really having the charm that could offset that. The hotel is currently being renovated, so improvement may be on its way. Breakfast very basic, certainly does not live up to the hotel's luxury/gourmet pretensions. price is very high for what it is food was nothing special. Restaurant food. Room and bathroom needed to be cleaner. The room was small with a sloping roof, even though it was a "superior". It was so full of furniture that was impractical and it was difficult to move. Bar food was poor.
