However, one must be a nature lover and be prepared to share your villa with the wildlife. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and very efficient.   Fantastic location. Hard to get there though as it is about 10km from Dambulla. The food was best we have had in Sri Lanka so far. The infinity pool is beautiful as it looks out to the lake. The room was very comfortable. Ambience is devine. It makes a great base to see the surrounding district. Once there it was phenomenal. We were greeted by Monica the elephant and given an upgrade. Thank you fr that.   Amaya Lake Dambulla gets 5 stars from me. We booked the standard chalets and were upgraded to Luxury Rooms without even requesting. They accomodated our request for an early check in at 6am, 7hrs before check in time. Also do not miss the spa, I only got the Lower Limb massage and it was soo goo - We had a very relaxing two days stay at the facility. There was some initial confusion where the hotel mistakenly put us up in a lower category room than what we had booked but this was quickly resolved when we highlighted later and were given an upgrade to the luxury suite. Overall good service levels although I would expect more consistency and speed as it sometime appeared a bit lackluster. Good choices in their restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Spa could improve their infrastructure but
