Set on the slope of Naval Hill, Franklin View Guesthouse offers panoramic views over Waverley suburb. Overlooking the landscape are a splash pool, lounge area with fireplace, and breakfast room with wooden ceiling and chandeliers. Each modern, air-conditioned room features a 32” flat-screen satellite TV, fridge and private bathroom with free toiletries. Some have exposed brick walls and a free-standing bath, and most have a balcony with Waverley views. Breakfast is served daily and there are braai barbecue facilities in the garden. Within a 15-minute drive there are several central Bloemfontein restaurants. Set over 3 levels, Franklin View provides free Wi-Fi throughout. Less than 5 km away are the Free State Stadium and Loch Logan Waterfront Centre, the largest shopping centre in central Africa. Bloemfontein Train Station is a 10-minute drive from Guesthouse Franklin View and Bloemfontein International Airport is 15 minutes by car. There is free parking on site.

The owners, Gustav and Marietjie, have a direct hands-on approach and are most friendly and hospitable. The rooms and facilities are very clean, and the furnishing of the rooms, apart from being well planned and catering for every need, are classy and quality. I'll most certainly stay here again!. This is situated high up amongst lots of trees full of birds. The view is absolutely inspiring and sunrises are just wonderful from the rooms. The owners are so friendl and obliging and make sure one is comfortable and happy!.

Although it was a very short stay this time, I would definitely choose Franklin View Guesthouse when I next go to Bloemfontein. excellent accommodation, exceptionally neat, lots of attention to detail, great breakfast. Very pleasant hosts. Gustav recommended places to visit and fine restaurants. His advice was invaluable. This is a fabulous guest house, probably the best I have ever stayed at. Great facilities, great breakfast, great view. Very easy to get to everything you need. And the hosts are terrific. The place was very neat and accommodating. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was awesome!! My wife and I enjoyed every moment. A great place!!. One of the rooms we used is facing the parking and the noise from thr cars was too loud in the morning. Everything was great. Will certainly stay again whenever in Bloemfontein. Difficulty to find at night time, as it is in a three or four times sub divided property with a steep panhandle on the top of the hill, to drive up and down is more a challenge ..... From parking to room a long way up the stairs, lucky I had very little luggage ...:-). Nothing. Not much!. none. All Good. None. Guesthouse should use linen table napkins and not the cheapest and smallest paper napkins on the market.

Travelling information

From the N1: - From both the north and southbound direction take the R700 Kenneth Kaunda exit to Bloemfontein. - If travelling from Cape Town, turn right at the top of the slip road. If travelling from Johannesburg, turn left. - Continue down Kenneth Kaunda (60 km/h zone) for about 6 km until you reach a roundabout. - Go straight over onto Wilcocks Road until you reach the first traffic lights. - This is Waverley Road and Bays Village shopping centre is on the right. - Turn left into Waverley Road. - Take the 4th right into Innes Avenue. - Turn left when you reach 9B Innes Avenue, passing the garage at 9A on your left. - Follow the driveway to the top of the hill, where Franklin View Guesthouse is located. From Central Bloemfontein: - Take President Brand Street and travel north to Zastron Street. - Go straight over the traffic lights into Kloof Street. - Kloof Street joins Aliwal Street, then becomes Milner Road. - When you come to a set of traffic lights with Bays Village shopping centre on the left, turn right into Waverley Road. - From here follow the final directions in the N1 section above. Please drive cautiously and obey the traffic lights when driving up or down the hill to/from the guest house. There is a 30-second interval between the red and green lights.
