We were upgraded to a Lake view room which was good. Wonderful view of Lake and mountains. Room very comfortable and well equipped. Owners have only recently taken over its running and I am sure they will be successful. Very helpful over my laundry when other guest were 'hogging' the machines - allowed me to use their dryer. Location was very convenient for what we wanted to do in area.

They showed great concern regarding challenging behaviour of another group staying there.They took the initiative and declined payment for the nights stay because of the issue. I would definitely not hesitate to return there. Our hosts, Ian and Liz were absolutely lovely people and went out of their way to make us welcome at their "home". They even used their own car to transport us to town with our luggage and readilyanswered any questions we had. The owners were very hospitable. Let us use the room after we had checked out to change/shower after sports event which was great. Also let us leave our car at motel until midday on check out day. Great location opposite the lake and short walk into town centre. Very friendly and helpful new owners so happy to advise and help. Great pub 2 doors down and you get a bit of free wifi too!. We liked everything, was a really nice clean place to stay with very friendly owners, will be recommending to others and when we are back in Taupo we will definitely be staying there again. Good sized room,the bed was so comfortable, with nice linen, very clean was also appreciated. The view of the lake was fabulous, great central location. Noisy people in next unit. This was not the fault of the owners and they were actively seeking to manage it. Leaving. Some of light bulbs were blown. The switch to bathroom from one bedroom did not work (had to go through bathroom into other bedroom to turn on bathroom light) Other guests were noisy - some sat out by pool talking loudly til 11pm and we could hear every word from our bedroom. New owners are upgrading property which does look a little tired in places and air con was too noisy to use. The 15 minute walk to the main restaurants streets. A little bit noisy from the traffic. There was a little bit of road noise but not enough to bother us. I would have liked a bit more room in the unit and would book a kitchen unit in future. Nothing major that impacted on our stay, but the kitchen cupboards could do with updating. the steps were a bit "dodgy" to walk on. Nothing. Cramped parking. I didn't realise i had booked a room without a kitchen sink. no big deal just something i noticed ;-). Could use a fan. N/A. On a couple of occasions large lorries parked right outside and blocked the views. We didn't think to ask for wifi password when we checked in and then when we returned from a walk later, the office was closed so we couldn't check emails til next day. Partly our fault but maybe reception could ask customers if they want wifi password at check in. Position of bathroom. There was no airconditioning or even a fan in the room. In the middle of summer the room got very hot even at night. Bug on the window, Heater not working very well. Windows are not air tight. Bed so big made the room crowded Decor a bit tired. Between the wardrobe and wall in the separate bedroom had not been cleaned for a very long time and was full of dirt, dust and cobwebs. My 10 year old daughter used a face cloth to clean the mould from the shower grouting. Also, the room sleeps 4 but there was only 2 face cloths!.
