  The staff was really nice. meals are ok, with breakfast in dining room and private dinner in your own room. Location a bit far from JR station but right in the center of shopping street so it's quite convenient once you get there. - Not too far from station and a short walk you could see many shops. Very convinient.

  My wife and I loved staying in a small and more traditional Japanese house, with the use of futon bed. The hostel was very clean and tidy. The meals organised by the hostel were delicious and well presented, with free tea and coffee and nice heated sitting area. The staff were very helpful and inviting. - Very clean and cozy.   Our room at this hotel was spacious and comfortable, large by Japanese standards. The main downside is that the aircon didn't work, so we had the window open regularly and this let in a smell of sewage prevalent in the hotel car park area. (This was not the usual sulfurous smell we experienced commonly when touring Kyushi, but definitely a sewage ... cosa dice la gente » smell). The spa area of the hotel was very good - pleasant and clean. The half board multi-course dinner was absolutely super and indeed, beat a kais - Room is large & clean with nice view of rice fields & mountain. Excellent onsen both in-door & out-door with nice views also. However, the out-door one is inside the building, just with no windows. They provide free shuttle to pick you up from Yufuin station and also to drop you off/pick up from the shopping street.

  Enjoyed the private cottage feeling and private baths. While bathing, you can see Mt Yufu. The meals were excellent and the best on our trip. Only stayed one night so not sure how far it would be to walk to town. Very peaceful area. Will go there again.   Being a small hotspring town meant that it was tougher getting English language support but Yadoya's Naoko-san speaks such perfect English that she made my stay a very enjoyable one! Naoko-san is very personable and takes time to explain every detail and recommending restaurants around the area to eat. Thank you for the hospitality! It takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the main shopping street - Yunotsubo Kaido, and 10 minutes to walk to Lake K - I like the private room of 熱溫泉 as I have privacy and both indoor and outdoor are available for me to try. The staff are all very nice and pleasant. If their English language ability is better, easier communication is possible.
