We had an amazing time in this beautifully laid out traditional Kyushu home. The entire second floor was made available to us, and we certainly did not require the use of shower facilities since onsens of a a phenomenal calibre are a few minutes away. The quality of the welcome was second to none, and that included an extremely convenient pick up and drop off from/to the train station and thorough overview of Beppu and its attractions from friendly owner/operator Bibo. Highly recommended.

Yamada Bessou is one of the most (if not the most) lovely places I have ever been. This is a very homey family-owned and -run guest house (from since the current owner's great-grandfather). My wife and I felt very welcomed during our stay. Among the facilities are the excellent onsens (separate public men/women and another private one). The location is also very good -- only a 10-15 minute walk from Beppu JR Station which is the hub Beppu's public transportation services.

1) Great breakfast - love choice of diverse Japanese food including local specialities; "Western Breakfast" a bit limited but this is not the reason why we choose to go to Japan, right? + great and friendly staff in the restaurant!

Clean and comfortable hotel. We booked a non smoking room. When we arrived in the room it was smelting smoke. We got a new room right away which was a lot better. Although in Japan it seems difficult to get a really non smoking room. Especially in hotels which exist a little longer. However this hotel is perfect base for exploring Kumamoto and surrounding.

From the standard of hotel in japan, The room is so big and comfortable. Scene is excellent. Exactly in the center of the city for shopping and leisure. The most value hotel in my trips in japan. One cannot find a better one in Fukuoka. -

Such a wonderful hotel, the best hotel in Japan for Service with such friendly staff. Kumamoto was a great place to stay with the hotel being right next to the station. We would have loved to stay an extra night as there is plenty to do in this lovely castle city. Rooms really comfortable and spacious. We will stay here again.

I speak no Japanese, and the staff speak little English, but they went out of their way to be exceptionally friendly and helpful to me. The hot springs were lovely, though Americans should know that they are used in the Japanese style: nude, divided by gender, thorough scrubbing before and after. -

We stayed at this ryokan to have the experience while we were in Japan
and we chose this one in particular because of its location in Ibusuki,
where we could enjoy the hot springs and try a sand bath. The owner is a
delightful man who speaks English very well. He drove us to several of
our in-town destinations and gave us great restaurant suggestions.
Overall fantastic hospitality and beautiful area to visit.
