  The family was wonderfully helpful and welcoming. Hot water for tea was in the room upon arrival, as well as a japanese style bathrobe. Everything was clean and beautiful in a traditional Japanese fashion. They let me keep my bag behind the desk for a day after leaving. And a great price! - Matsukaze was a well-staffed, friendly and budget-oriented Ryokan that delivers for the price asked. Though not in the central-area of Matsumoto, it is probably the best-value-for-dollar for people who want traditional Japanese accommodation in this mountainous area. Additionally, the Ryokan is a 15 minute walk from the JR Matsumoto station.

  Great location being walking distance from the train station and the castle with plenty of restaurants and night life nearby.   I lOVED this guest house, the owners and their daughter were so friendly and warn I ended up extending my stay for another night just because they made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. There was fully equiped kitchens just outside the rooms which was a pleasant surprise. Alternatively there was a couple of restaurants and a great supermarket within 3-5mins walk from the ryokan. The - We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this ryokan. The owners are friendly and accommodating, and it really helped to have the maps listing favorite places to eat and things to do. The location is good if you want to see the castle, and take in an onsen at Asama. The Inn was very clean, and our room was very comfortable. Our 8 year old loved sleeping on the futon in our traditional room, and the ofuro was a great cultural experience. Don't miss the delicious breakfast for a true taste of Japan
