  Excellent location right next to the train station (as the name suggests). Good base for exploring charming Matsumoto. Staff are very friendly and generally have a good level of spoken English. Rooms are small but comfortable. Wifi signal was very strong in the rooms (enough to support Skype video calls). Good communal baths on the 7th floor. The location of this hotel near the train station, made it very convenient to get to from the Shinkansen. The hotel staff were very friendly and they helped us find four of the towns free bikes so that we were able to see Matsumoto castle before it closed. The lounge next to the bar was also really nice to hang out at and have a few drinks.

  This is my favorite hotel so far during our trip in Japan. This is a lodge in the mountains, so don't expect luxury (we had shared bathrooms) or a traditional japanese ryokan-like hotel.   When we visited, this hotel was being run by an elderly couple who work hard to keep it going. Their dedication was impressive and beautiful to see. We enjoyed our stay and recommend that others should follow us. The hotel is located a couple of miles from the city centre and is best suited for car tourism.

It is reasonably priced as Ryokans go and feels like a little piece of Japenese luxury.
