This was one of the best hotels we stayed in Japan. The location was very easy, we just took the subway to reach Kokusaikaikan and the directions on the subway took us directly to the hotel. It was a very comfortable and nice room, with free internet. The buffet downstairs was very good for dinner and the surrounding environment was very nice and green. As my older daughter was in the room one day, they didn' t have oppurtinity to clean the room, so they presented us 500 JPY gift check for it.

Our 2 nights-stay in the hotel was amazing. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous. The hotel staff was professional and helpful. They could communicate in English. I wish I could stay longer.

1) Breakfast - European buffet was to die for!! they cook ham in front of your eyes, excellent choice of fruit, muesli, sausages, fish.
2) Spacious room.
3) Staff speaks good English and very helpful, allowed us to leave our luggage for free for 3 days even when we left for Tokyo and then didn't come back to Hyatt again.
4) Locality is really convenient for both sightseeing (next to Kyoto Museum and various temples) and logistics point (5 min from train/shinkansen station)

The Staff were exceedingly good showing genuine attentive detail. There were several good to excellent English speakers at the hotel. Great sleep in a double bed. Very good Free Wi Fi throughout the hotelNice restaurant and reception area and garden. A perfect hotel if you'd like to get away from the japanese business hotels with the small rooms. If you are traveling as a family or if you are older, this is the best choice in Kyoto as far as I'm concerned. The hotel is located on a rather busy street with lots of shops and restaurants, and also just a few minutes from the Kyoto shiyakusho-mae subway station, that will take you to and from Kyoto station. Just walk across the street and a bit further in and you'll find one of Kyoto's busiest

Nice and comfortable, very clean, quiet and a king_size breakfast.
The breakfast is really worth the price, but don't book it in advance, you get discount vouchers at the reception counter!

The hotel is well located, very close to the main train station and the Gion district, the beautiful and traditional part of Kyoto.
The rooms are really stunning, with a wonderful fusion of traditional and modern Japanese design. The rooms are also very large (especially for Japanese standards) and we felt instantly relaxed upon arrival.

The rooms at Kanra are visually beautiful. The design is typically Japanese and the management have put a lot of thought and money into the aesthetics and decor. They make beautiful use of hidden lighting to give the room subtely and sophistication. The size of the room is enormous by any standard, let alone Japanese, and the bed is separated from the tatami mat TV room by a bamboo screen. The bed is so comfortable and the pillows just right.
