Cosa dice la gente
This is the best place to stay, not only in Kanazawa or Japan but in the whole world.
Shaq is an extremely helpful host and this hostel is the epitome of what one expects of any hostel. Traveling solo, I never once felt that I was by myself. There's plenty of people and it's quite a good scene most evenings. Shaq himself likes to party it up once in a while, and so If one wants to go out to a club or on a pub crawl, Shaq is great company.
Besides that, the guesthouse is a walk away from the tr. tutti gli commenti dei clienti »
Shaq big house is the maybe the best hostel I have stayed in during my
trip in Japan. The place is brand new (he opened about 2 weeks ago) so
everything is neat and clean. There is a huge kitchen very practical and
beautiful (it was was a restaurant before). There is an insane amount of
very beautiful dishes the former owner left which were really cool to
eat with. The dormitory is like a traditional Japanese room except that
it was very comfortable thanks to the softest mattress I have slept o.
This is quite simple the best place to stay in Kanazawa: a newly open guesthouse, run by a super friendly young Japanese, who has lived abroad and will understand your travelers needs. He was so kind to us, lent us his PC, helped us with sightseeing organization. He even threw a pancake party, allowing guests to get to know each other. Everything is nice and fresh in this guesthouse, the futon mattress were the most comfortable we had in whole of Japan. The location is perfect, walking distance.
We've stayed in a lot of hostels in Japan and all were comfortable, clean and overall really good. The same counts for Shaq Bighouse. The one thing which makes a huge difference about this place is the owner. Shaq is the most helpful, friendly and adorable host we've had all over Japan. He's pretty new to the hostel business and you can really feel that he puts a lot of heart into his work! Would definitely recommend staying at his place! Best Hostel Experience in Japan!.
Awesome place. Brand new, with obvious extreme attention to detail and quality. Shaq, the one man show who runs the place, is friendly, helpful, speaks perfect english, and understands the needs of travelers. Very good location (never used a bus except to train station), great value for money, and very comfortable (took the private Japanese style room) - we had the best sleep so far in our trip. Ended up staying an extra night. Kudos to the owner.
Shaq´s hospitality and friendliness. Japanese interiors - a former
restaurant, the place retains much of its character and atmosphere.
Attention to detail - like the Ikebana carefully provided for by Shaq´s
mom! Location - just 200 meters away from Omicho, Kanazawa´s bustling
fish market. Best of luck to Shaq from Rafael and Olivia!.
Shaq has just recently started his hostel business and is doing everything right to make sure it's a success. Extremely helpful and hospitable, he went out of his way to help me, even offering me his shoes when it was raining !
Location is first class, a walk away to everything you want to see.
Location is very easy to go to the garden, the castle and fresh market. Many convenient stores near by as well as department store and Muji is only 5 min. Owner is friendly. BBQ dinner with other guest offered at very good price. Clean and comfortable place.
The rooms and facilities were brand new and it was maybe a 10 minute walk from the local station. But what I liked the most was Shaq himself. He was a great host and treated us like family. I wish him success in the future and happiness today.
Great location, everything is new and very clean, owner speaks very good English and will do his best to make sure you enjoy your time there. Rather than just saying where the party is, Shaq will actually party with you.
Everything is brand new and very clean. I forgot to call warning I was going to be late yet still the owner waited me (much after check-in time). Shaq is very welcoming and makes you feel confortable.
Only good things about this place: very welcoming and very comfortable.
Such a nice place. Shaq is very helpful and friendly for gests!
Definitly the best place where we have slept in japan!.
Very nice refurbished hostel, very friendly atmosphere, practical offers (like bykes in the heart of the city, near all must-see places to visit). We highly recommend this hostel.
Very great and nice place with a really comforting owner.
Though, it needs definitely more guests, I felt a bit lonely, spending two nights alone in the 12-bed-dorm :-).
We appreciated the greeting of course : as first clients, the owner has organized a party! By the way, we wish Shaq all the luck and success for his new guesthouse.
Super nice host! Hostel is very new with good facilities, furniture and rooms. Let us feel home. Host speaks perfectly English. Thx Shaq.
Helpful staff with fluent English. A laidback place with comfy beds and nice bathrooms. Shaq's a chill guy that runs a nice place.
Very nice staff , clean room, good location.
Shaq is very friendly and helpfull.
it's very clean and Shaq-san is very friendly.
My short stay of 2 nights here! I should have made Kanazawa my base for takayama and extended my time to 4 nights here.
The place, even though it is ideally located, was a bit difficult to
find but what place in Japan isn't?.
All positive, really.
WiFi is great but available on common area on first floor only (not in rooms). Shaq, get a repeater :-).
Might need a few more signs on and around the hostel to make it easier to find.
Nothing.
Sometimes he's out on errands, but there's a note left behind for every occasion.
The wall is so thin that we could hear all the sound outside the room.
Since their futons are a bit old, we got a mild backache.
