  New Delhi was our first stop in India and we chose Soi Boutique Hotel for the excellent price and good reviews on letsbookhotel.com. I can easily say that I felt at home at Soi. 1) Location: The location is fantastic. It's in an elegant and quiet neighborhood, very close to all major Old Delhi attractions. The furthest part of the city are 20 min... cosa dice la gente » away by taxi. The metro station is a 5 minutes walk (I highly advise to take a bicycle cab or tuk tuk to get there in the heat!). In addition, there - The owner, Aditya, was extremely helpful - he suggested places to go around town, helped us book a day trip to the Taj Mahal, and arranged rides to and from the airport. There were free mangoes and bottled water in the communal fridge. The A/C in our room proved crucial for surviving the Delhi summer heat. Defence Colony is apparently one of the safer neighborhoods in Delhi. We didn't run into any trouble while we were there. The place is gated and guarded. There is a nice park nearby.

  Hotel Godwin is an Oasis in Paharganj, an area which is authentically Indian. Very close to the train station and one of the main bazaar areas of Delhi. Breakfast had a good assortment of hot and cold choices with the option to have eggs cooked to order. Found - Large clean and well designed rooms with excellent ensuite, a/c etc. Staff very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was large and tasty...except no real coffee. But that is difficult in India. All who work there were well trained in how to be friendly and helpful to guests.
