Leaside and Compton were both fantastic. Our adult girls stayed in Leaside and we stayed in the Avalon Suite in Compton. Our suite was perfect! Clean, super comfortable, nice color and design, large windows with light, wifi, TV, a large bath, great shower and wooden and marble floors. Went to the kitchen after hours for a cup of tea. The staff was so friendly and interesting. We joined our daughters at Leaside each morning for breakfast which was excellent. Molly was the best! We learned of the.

The breakfasts were wonderful, and Molly serving them in the big dining room was a treat. Interesting guests from all over the globe, made for great conversations. Comfortable large rooms, clean updated bathrooms. A beautiful old historic property - and one I visited many years ago when a Parker classmate of mine lived there. Large pleasant garden in which to sit and enjoy. We spent 2 nights at the Leaside and had a wonderful time . Our room was very comfortable and nicely furnished , the staff were very helpful in organising trips for us , giving us directions and Molly was a walking history of St John's and Newfoundland ,growing up in an Outport . It was a great place to complete our visit to Newfoundland . We will definitely be back. My sister and I stayed in the Argentia room which was really lovely. The staff couldn't do enough for us and Molly must be singled out for her wonderful personality and endless tips on where to go and what to see! Overall, a fabulous trip and I've made a promise to myself to be a repeat client as often as I can!. The historical Leaside Manor offers the intimacy and warmth of an old-fashioned B&B combined with the modern luxuries and elegantly appointed comfort of a small boutique hotel. It's also far away enough from wonderful but noisy downtown St-John's to guarantee a restful night. Friendly staff, relaxing, accomodating place. Loved the old character home in the Waterford bridge area (I loved this road growing up because of all the trees and old style homes!). The home was close to all main touristy places in St. John's. Loved Compton House, grounds rooms. We stayed in the Pippy suite, very spacious. Staff were always very friendly, accommodating (love that they serve fabulous tea). Breakfasts all delish served by Emily who did an amazing job. We were unable to enjoy the breakfast as our flight left so early but the staff invited us to help ourselves to coffee, fruit and bread/muffins, which we did and that was very much appreciated!. Our room was comfortable and felt very private and we had everything we needed. It was nice to have breakfast included and the communal breakfast room was a nice way to meet people. Loved the bed, the linens, and the way the management handled my late arrival. Staff was charming and I was very well treated. Friendly staff and very helpfull with good advice. The breakfasts were great. The location was excellent too. Everything was awesome, stated with my mom while on a shopping trip. Very beautiful. Loved the room it was very clean and would recommend anyone to stay here. Great B&B, staff was fantastic. Would definitely stay here again. Everything. The morning bustle in the kitchen and office directly over our suite ( Signal Hill) meant no late mornings, but not a problem for those of us already up by 0630 . The location is both a blessing and a curse. As travellers who prefer to walk everywhere, i.e. only rent vehicles when absolutely necessary, its' location does entail a good walk through a somewhat 'industrial' part of the city. The manor is however situated on a quiet hill, between a lovely old cemetery and another neighbouring older B&B property. Could hear other guests in adjacent room. the hardwood floors and the door echoed their conversations. Would prefer to be a little closer to downtown (walkable but a little far after dinner). We had a room in Compton House rather than Leaside Manor. It would have been nice if there was a living area to sit and have a drink or play a game in the evening. Limited breakfast choice...I was there five days. Eggs every day. Bathroom in the Quidi Vidi room was really really tiny, but it all worked :). The bathroom in the Quidi Vidi room was very very small. If the second entrance was taken out the bathroom could be expanded making it more user friendly.
