We had a fabulous one night stay at The Chester Residence. Staff were very helpful and the suite was fantastic. All rooms were very spacious (we had the 1st floor suite) and the location was only about 5 minutes walk from Haymarket and Princes Street. Flat screen tv with multiple satellite channels. Kitchen well stocked daily with breakfast/snack items. Reception/housekeeping more than helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone and return to this hotel without a doubt.

I'm on gluten free diet - had no problems whatsoever. The chef even amended the Valentine's Day menu in the Grill Room. All the staff were exceptionally helpful. This hotel is like my view of an old hotel should be steeped in history and splendour. The staff went out of their way to be helpful when we had a problem with my baby grandson who was ill whilst we were staying at the apartment.
There was always staff available even on a Sunday which was unexpected.
Also great having some provisions in apartment for when we first arrived. -

apartment was fantastic, new, good layout, good facilities and amenities. location was ok - a good 20 min walk to the heart of the shopping district and royal mile and quite a walk to a supermarket. WE WERE ALSO UPGRADED THIS MADE OUR EASTER TREAT EVEN MORE SPECIAL. - Five minute walk from Haymarket railway station. Everything was in walking distance, but good local transport for the less energetic. Easy to find. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a problem one evening when we had no hot water, but within five minutes staff were on site and water was restored.

Bathrooms modern and clean.
If you want to stay out of central downtown, are driving a car and take buses and tours, this works very well. Some signs of wear and tear here and there but it has the character of an older building which was exactly what I was looking for in Scotland. The downstairs sitting room with snacks and bar fridge a nice feature. Business office available.
