Situated at the foot of the Brecon Beacons and 30 minutes' drive from Cardiff, Tregenna features free private parking and is just 4km from the Brecon Mountain railway line. Merthyr Tydfil railway station is a 15-minute walk and has a half-hourly service to and from Cardiff Central. A full English breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant which also serves hearty evening meals and desserts. Real ales and a wide selection of malt whiskys are served in the hotel bar. All rooms feature a private bathroom and tea/coffee making facilities. Family chalets are available and offer more privacy. The impressive Dan Yr Ogof showcaves are a 40-minute drive from the hotel. Merthyr Tydfil town centre is a 10-minute walk and features shops and restaurants.

The staff were very friendly and polite the beds were clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was more than adequate and I would not hesitate to return to the hotel in the future in fact I would say it's a near certainty I will return. All staff were lovely, especially Marissa. All was ideal for our needs of evening meal for 16, in the end, 03/04/13 &...all said their food was delicious and also for our 'Wake' the following afternoon 04/04/13.
tous commentaires » Friendly comfortable hotel which was ideally placed for access to Cardiff and the Millennium Stadium and for discovering family history in Dowlais, Penny Darren and Tredegar. The room had everything you could expect, good bathroom, television, Wi- Fi. Just good value. Breakfast at £5 extra was decent too. I may have been lucky but my room was exelent, the staff very helpful & the food very good. A good centre for around the area. Free car park, free WiFi, large TV, spacious room, plenty of hot water, tea & coffee facilities, comfy bed, nice and clean. It was great value for the money charged, you get what you pay for. Food is excellent and well priced to suit every pocket. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the food was good & the room was beautifully decorated. Didn't find the bar and restaurant very appealing but ate out so didn't matter. Could do with some new beds. Phone not answered for two calls. No one at reception on arrival. Lack of hot water in the bathroom, but I think this was an unusual situation. Hot tap on bath was loose and got too hot to handle. Hotel a bit run down. Largely clean, but noticed lots of cobwebs at higher levels in my room. There were dust in the bathroom. cannot find anything adverse to comment on. nothing. Could do with at least one more member of staff, as the few staff members appeared rushed off their feet trying their best to make everyone feel at home. The shower could be improved. Water pressure is very low. needs up dating (modernising ). Lack of garden and outlook. no dislikes. Nothing. Having to wait to check in also at bar as there wasn't enough staff on duty. Showers need updating to deal with peak usage but not a problem if you wanted a bath.very dated decor(personally i thought this added to its charm) and maybe a bit ruff and ready but for the money you pay its never going to be 5 star and you'd be silly to expect that. darkness of upstairs hallways sticky woodwork on the banisters flooring uneven in bathroom felt like you was going through floor. It's not a hotel for people looking for luxury. Could do with a refurb/deep clean. But fine for us hikers who just want a comfortable bed and proximity to busses. You really should invest in a decent shower. This facility was way below standard. Not enough staff to serve and would benefit from employing a cleaner. Poor general maintenance including a rotten floor in the bathroom and mould on the ceiling. Warm flat beer. Bed was a bit lumpy. we were charged more then we were expecting. The mattress in the bed needed replacing. rooms a bit on the small side. seemed like they had lost the caring aspect of running a hotel it all looked a bit tired. Bar Service. No Lift, but helpful staff. The hotel were not aware of our reservation and arrival time. Hot water took 5 minutes to get through empty wine bottle missed on top of wardrobe from previous occupants room very cold even with heating on. Greeting was not welcoming, since reception had Not been advised of my arrival late. Payment was demanded immediately. Bar - was not warm- the beer was lacking a head. The first glass was dirty the room was very cold , no radiators working. I resorted to donninig all my available clothes and hat to go to bed! Bathroom needed regrouting and joins resealing/ Great pity - used to have a good experience a few years ago. location, very hot in hotel. Room decor, 1 member of staff, smell. Food was less than average. shower didnt work when it was one of the hottest times of the year. when I told the woman who took my money she didnt even look at me when she apologised. Had to wait for staff to check in forever, who then "forgot" to tell the room was not in the main building but behind in a separate one. Wireless internet didn't work. Basic beyond basic Bed valance was filthy TV no bigger than my mobile phone Mattress yuk !. Wasn't clean. Noisy{constant sound of running water}and dogs barking. room wasn't ready on time. quite a walk upstairs no one carried our cases. Rubbish Hotel.
