it was lovely warm and cosy. The breakfast was lovely, the room had everything we needed and the bathroom was beautiful.Friendly and helpful staff - and a good breakfast!. good location to the town. Good location, comfortable room, adequate car parking. Plenty of storage space for clothes and effects. friendly staff. We had a room that had been very recently refurbished. It had a lovely view over the river and it was comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and of a good overall standard. This is a reasonable budget hotel.tous commentaires »

Room was better than I was expecting after reading negative reviews on tripadvisor.convenience, value, fine family room for the money. It was clean and they served a very good breakfast.Good value and helpful staff.Good location. Good location and breakfast was very good. location. The river view from the room. The closeness to the town centre and ease of access.B eds comfortable. Handy for centre of Colchester. Close to the town centre, friendly staff. hotel position. The staff were friendly and helpful. Convenient location, helpful staff. Friendly and helpful staff. The beds were comfortable. town centre location. Convenient location. No restriction on time for return to hotel in the evening. characterful place. Breakfast was good. There was nothing good to report. Location in town. Leaving early. breakfast. Close to town with parking. rooms a little small, but ok.breakfast was cooked in advance and kept hot therefore the egg was rubbery, but really it was fine. Ummm found the shower a bit tricky as either hot or cold but that could have just been me!!!. No. A bit of noise from pub across the river. tatty exterior. Our room was a reasonable size for a double; it didn't need the additional single bed which made cramped. The building is clearly very old, and has charm - the stairs on the other hand are pretty steep and not suited to someone with mobility problems. The inside of the hotel has been re-decorated, the outside needs the same treatment. Parking is limited but free. The bathroom smelled a bit musty and I couldn't get the cold tap on the sink to work.Bit grotty in hallway but you get what you pay for. Still needs some updating. Bedroom was good but dining area needsredecoration. Got the impresion that the hotel had changed handsrecently.cold room. curtains did not hang correctly. The checking in procedure, having to wait 10 mins for someone to arrive was a bit bizzare. breakfast - not much choice and not great for vegetarians. when we were having breakfast, water started dripping from the ceiling and onto the chair next to where we were sitting. Limited bar facilities that closed at 10.00 pm. No availability of food except for breakfast.the wait to check in. No reception desk (dial 100 for enquiries or service). No evening meal available at any time. Not aware of this until 2 days before our stay, when we checked if hotel had the booking, although we had asked for table reservation when booking.Hotel was clean but needed a bit of TLC. bathroom facilities. Dirty cups in the room. There was dreadful smell from the drains in the shower room. There was a general air of delapidation in the corridors and public areas. In need of some refurbishment. The room was a bit tatty and not very clean. The window frames were rotting, and the stairs were steep. The toiletmade a very loud noise when flushed. dirty net curtains. Dirty and very shabby. Standards of room and food only fair. No teabags in room.Room taps were poor water flow, bar had no coke. It was possibly in early stages of refurbishment still fairly dilapidated; The plumbing was poor (difficult to wash or shower.) Privacy of bathroom compromised through having no curtains - good view if 'Dominoes' Pizza bar over the road (and vice versa). Full English Breakfast somewhat 'tired.' Checkout 'virtual' by intercom ... strange !. The rooms are dirty and quite cramped. The bar, when open, is poorly stocked. There is a general feeling of decay in the property with all areas in need of deep cleaning. We did not stay for breakfast as we did not trust the hygiene in the kitchen. Layer of grease on all crockery and cutlery. No evening meals served. We needed to leave early each morning and asked if we could have continental bfast in our room. Onlycereals arrived so asked if they had rolls or something. Only ordinary bread. We took that plus jam as better than nothing. Carpet in room badly needed hoovering and cobwebs on bathroom ceiling were disgusting. Liquid soap too weak to do anything.Access to entrance poor. No light above wash basin;dirty floor under bathroom radiator;dripping bath tap;curtains hanging off pole in bedroom; grease stain on valance of single bed;bedroom door looked as if it had been taken from a skip;plaster on landing walls falling off and not hoovered up during our stay;Breakfast swimming in grease. Shall I go on?. The hotel appeared to be in a poor state of repair, the windows were drafty (and rotten), the bathroom smelled of mould from the mouldy shower curtain that hung in the bath. There was no blind in the bathroom that looked out straight onto the street (there was a net but this did little when the light was on). The carpets appeared un-vaccumed and there was a thick layer of dust on the plug sockets. dated, noisey inside and outside with constant noise from talking other rooms and tiolets flushing also hotel across river and boy racers in multistory car park.Room was very small and dirty, could say filthy. Ensuite sink and around sink was very dirty, and door would only open half way as door closer to main door in the way. Staff were polite and friendly but clothing was dirty and scruffy. the hotel was very much in need of renovation and decoration. there was a distinct mustiness and dampness throughout the building. the room we had was very poor. we appreciate the building was quite old but has been neglected. My wife was taken to Hospital on the morning of our third day. We arrived back at the Hotel at 9.45 am just 15 mins late for breakfast. The staff would not give us any food, not even a slice of toast, before we had to leave for home on the Isle of Wight,Hospitality????????????????. the rooms were thick with dust, the crockery was stained and rinsed in cold water. the hotel d´should be closed down.
