The Three Crowns - Photos
Ce que les gens disent
lovely hotel based in an old pub, the staff were all very helpful, friendly and accomodating, the room was cosy, warm, clean and comfy and quiet (room 21), liked the allocated parking system which is included with all superior rooms and made for a stress free arrival and stay, the food in the bar/restaurant was good quality and interesting, would recommend if you intend to eat in that you book beforehand and preferably in the morning as its open to non residents and seemed to be popular to loc. tous commentaires »
First impressions of the 3 Crowns were of the friendliness of the staff and the lovely bar area and dining room, our room was smart clean with an adequate ensuite although the shower was rather small. The food was superb with the waitresses attending with efficiency and good humour. My partner and I had a wonderful two day stay, wish it could have been longer.
Very attentive staff and fine service.
Very good food served in atmospheric surroundings.
Room fitted out to very high standard.
When I asked if there was grapefruit available to eat at breakfast a member of staff offered to go and try and buy one in the local shop. A unique gesture, something I've never experienced before.
Absolutely beautiful B&B! Very recently refurbished - so everything looks perfect. But most importantly the staff were extremely helpful - in helping us with finding walks, giving us directions. Also the food was really great. I highly recommend their cream tea after a day's hike. Dinners there was also lovely.
The setting of The Three Crowns is prefect in beautiful Chagford. The
atmosphere is completely relaxed and the staff are attentive, friendly
but discreet. The food was presented well and the fresh fish was
delightful. It is alittle gem to have found. Thank you.Do I want to tell
others about it, only a favorite few!!.
The stunning building and courtyard. The staff who were friendly and
interested in us and our trip to Gidleigh Park. Superb beds. High
standards of house keeping. Good food, even after we had tasted Michael
Caines! Lovely relaxed ambiance. We will be returning and also trying
the sister hotels.
What a delightful property in a lovely village. The staff are very

The hotel is an old traditional Inn and very welcoming. The staff were all very accomodating and helpful. The room I had was beautifully decorated and exceptionally clean and comfortable. Fantastic value for money!.
We were looked after very well by the staff, and nothing was to much trouble. Easy access to Dartmoor countryside, and the room we had the bed was extremely comfortable and food lovely, would definately visit again.

Cask ales well presented in a clean glass with a good head, good lacing in glass, and full of flavour.
Staff was excellent, very nice and very accommodating.
Had a reserved parking spot for us when we arrived. Recently renovated and very nice. The town was lovely, quaint and very nice unique shops.
everything, lovely bedroom with little touches that you don't get in other hotels, extra milk, good selection of teas, cafetiere. Lovely open fire in the bar, very clean, friendly and helpful staff.
The whole experience was very pleasurable. The hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard and the staff were excellent. Dining facilities (both inside and outside) were also very good.
The place, is lovely- a beautiful thatched inn in a lovely village. food, staff and accommodation superb. many thoughtful touches.
Parking at the back has your name on.
Truly outstanding.
Extremely helpful staff, superb location in a small town in Dartmoor, very old building but well maintained. Morning breakfast good. Other eating establishments only a few doors away.
We loved the ambience of the Inn, the food, the attentiveness of the staff. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. It was a good location for visiting many places.
Beautiful hotel in a superb location for Dartmoor, sympathetically refurbished and with excellent food and friendly, professional staff. Would definitely recommend highly.
The hotel was a year into having being renovated to a very high standard. Everything was clean and beautifully decorated. The staff were friendly and the food delicious.

Staff were great, a special mention of Lynsey who was attentative, caring and overall a very good asset to The Three Crowns.
The location right in the middle of the lovely village of Chagford is
great for visiting Dartmoor. Food was excellent.
Everything about the Three Crowns is exceptional---the Inn, the service, the food service, and the country location.

Chagford is lovely.
Beautiful old building, modernised with taste, care and attention to detail.
First class.
Staff were very helpful and polite and the rooms were very well decorated and comfortable.
The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming. Staff were very helpful and professional.
there is one table in the bar which feels like you have been sat in the hall by the door which we asked to be moved from and wait for a different table to become available to eat dinner, but it was later explained that the main restaurant area was closed due to a leak so a minor issue and a 15 min wait to sort out and the staff were brilliant throughout.
Nothing to dislike.
Nothing to dislike.
'Fine tuning' on elements of service in the restaurant will deliver even higher quality levels e.g. clearing away plates/utensils after each course without delay.
Having to come home.
The food was a little bit of a let down. Although the menu gave many
choices and the standard was of good wholesome pub food, I suppose the
expectation was of a higher level.
Staff could be a bit more knowledgable about advising guests on locations to see around the area.
Nothing.
Service in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was extremely slow and unprofessional, training/supervision needed for all staff. A real shame, as it caused what could have been a 'very nice' stay to only be 'nice'.
Nothing.
Nothing.
I would have liked there to be a lounge that residents could relax in to read etc. There was only the bar to sit in and it was quite dark. In our bedroom there was only one comfortable chair to sit in.
shower curtain(my pet hate).
the weather.
Nothing - everything was great!.
Pillows were too hard for my wife and I. We did not realise that soft feather pillows were available. It would be useful to make customers aware of this option on arrival.
Walls were thin....could hear people in next room and hear cleaning staff outside our door early in the morning.
possibly the only down side was lack of parking on site of hotel but there is a car park just a minute away with cheap parking so not really a problem.
No car parking, but the local public car park was convenient.
we liked everything.
The dinner menu was a bit pricey, but there are other options in the same block.
Nothing!!.
Nothing.
Restaurant is a little overpriced and the standard rooms are rather small.
nothing to dislike.
Nothing.
The sitting area in the Suite was not heated, so didn't use it.
Can't think of anything!.
Wasn't too impressed with the cooked breakfast.
Shelving needed in the bathroom - nowhere to put toiletries
Bedside light needed on both sides of bed
Bedroom small.
They had a maintenance issue with the shower. The heavy brass handle had
not been fixed on and fell off when I started to shower. The management
were of course apologetic but it should not have happened.
Small item---the main stairs to the upper levels is very narrow and has several turns that are difficult for older folks to navigate, especially with luggage.
the meals were good but thought for the price the veg should be included not extra.
Bar was slow to serve.
No hotel info in room - we were told the previous people must have taken it, and there wasn't a spare!!?
Buffet part of breakfast was OK but not really 5 star standard, eg not much fresh fruit, mediocre juice and yoghurt was pasteurised, thickened with maize starch and flavoured, not natural/live. On Sunday croissants and pastries had run out by 9 am.
Could probably benefit from more car parking.
