The menu offers traditional Slovene food, including štruklji and Kranj sausage, though often the hotel will surprise you with other specialties.

Breakfast and dinner is self-service. For the nice views and mountain sun, many guests prefer to sit outside. There is also an aperitif bar with an exit to the sun terrace and ski slope.

When the snow melts, the area transforms into an ideal starting point for various summer sports. Nature lovers can choose from mountaineering, fishing, kayaking, canoeing and rafting. Courageous adrenalin enthusiasts can also enjoy hydro-speed, canyoning and paragliding.

Besides vast ski slopes and ski running lines, you can ice-skate on Lake Bohinj and climb on icy walls in Julian Alps. Vogel and its surroundings are the perfect place for skiing. Ski slopes go all the way from the lake surface to 1,800 metres above the sea level. Ski instructors can teach you the classic style, carving style, snowboarding and also the more and more popular telemark style.

Bohinj has been long known for its ski running lines. The most beautiful are on Vogel and in Dobrava between Bohinjska Bistrica and Ribčev Laz. World Cup championships were once organised here.

Special equipment and basic knowledge of the classic style is needed for off-road skiing. Besides the slopes around Vogel, the longest off road ski slope in Julian Alps is not far away. This 15 km tour starts on Kanjavec and ends in Stara Fužina. The total altitude difference is 2,000 metres.

At Pod Skalco (under the rock), there is a skating rink, where it is also possible to borrow ice skates. When the lake freezes, people can enjoy a 4 km long natural skating rink. Here, there is also an artificial iced waterfall. Natural ones can be find on the surrounding mountains.

The hotel offers single, double and triple bedded rooms. Additional beds are also possible. Each room is equipped with a telephone and TV. It is also possible to borrow a video or DVD player to watch your favourite films. The spacious bathrooms have been recently renovated.

The hotel is situated in the heart of the Triglav National Park, high above Lake Bohinj and it is surrounded by the Julian Alps’ jewels. It can be reached by car, train and plane.

By Car:
- From Ljubljana:
- Leave the Ljubljana north highway ring at the Šiška exit and continue the journey on the Gorenjska highway and motorway.
- Leave the motorway at the Bled exit (about 60 km from Ljubljana).
- Pass through Bled and Bohinjska Bistrica, Ribčev Laz, where you turn left to the south side of Lake Bohinj.
- There are only a few more kilometres to reach Ukanc, where there is the Vogel Gondola Station.
- It takes approximately half an hour to get from Bled to Ukanc.

- From Austria:
- Enter Slovenia at the Karavanke tunnel.
- Pass by Jesenice.
- Take the Bled exit and pass through Bled and Bohinjska Bistrica, Ribčev Laz, where you turn left to the south side of Lake Bohinj.
- There are only a few more kilometres to arrive at Ukanc, where there is the Vogel Gondola Station.
- It takes approximately half an hour to get from Bled to Ukanc.

By Ski Bus:
During the skiing season, a ski bus travels between Bohinjska Bistrica and Ukanc (Vogel Gondola Station).

By Plane:
There are 2 airports close to the Ski Hotel Vogel: Ljubljana Airport in Brnik (Slovenia) and Alpe Adria Adria Airport in Klagefurt (Austria). Both airports are linked with most of Europe’s and the world’s largest cities. The low cost airlines, EasyJet and RyanAir, fly to these airports as well.

By Train:
It is also possible to travel by train, regularly riding on the Ljubljana - Jesenica - Nova Gorica route.
