  A funky back-packer that was adequate for our needs. Ideally located across the road from the beach and right next to start of the K2 cycle race. Very adequate and communal kitchen/dining room with a view to kill for - There was a nice homey feel to the place.   I only needed a bed as I was attending a friends birthday party. I was given a room opposite the shower and toilet. This place is not new but my room and the facilities were very clean. I made use of the bookcase in the hallway for a short read before a good nights sleep. Will definitely stay again - The owners Ian & Liz are fantastic, they are welcoming and very informative they did above and beyond anything i have experienced at a hostel. They decor in the place is amazing...artwork is available from all who have stayed in true to hostel form. If you intend on doing the Tongariro trek its perfect for location and price!!!

  Building was nice, with a decent layout and facilities. It has a really good vibe, and everyone I met was super friendly. Room was good, with a really comfy bed. Almost stayed a second night it was so much fun, but in the end had to move on.   Great staff and for the price I was rapt with my room, all I needed and nothing I didn't. great central location, walking distance to everything. Would stay again any day, cheers Base Taupo - Great spot right in the town centre. Awesome freindly staff with good knowledge of want I wanted to know of the area. Good value for your money.

  We got there very late. However it was no problem, the staff just arranged everything for us so that we could get our keys after the hostel reception desk closed. It was very cute, clean and quiet. Also comfortable and welcoming - I found the bathroom/kitchen facilities very good well equipped and clean. Close to main shopping.

  Staff is very helpful, waited for my late check in and helped to get around with advice on the area (better than iSITE did). Kitchen area is beyond any needs, cosy backyard. - That I got some were to sleep and breakfast tne next morning befor I left Thank You. And I meet 2 nice young Rusen Girls tarveling around nz

  Loved the surroundings, peace and quiet and the opportunity to interact with the friendly people staying there. Had everything we required. Did the bush walk, summit climb and its a close to walk to the beach. Had the free kayaks to take advantage of.Clean facilities. - We loved the natural beauty and peaceful environment.   Totally reccommend Kiwi Paka if you are in Waitomo. Total value for money from great staff, great rooms and great food. We will be back with friends. - Reception staff were amazingly friendly, patient and helpful even with a queue of people. Rooms and facilities were lovely and clean. NO BUNKS, YAY!!
