  Everything in the hotel was superb. Of course it is a bit expensive, but you are really treated like you "own the place". The staff is just perfect. The hotel is basically a beautiful old house, with a brazilian decoration of its finest taste, and a breathtaking view of the city. Rooms are clean and classy. Just remarkable.   Even before we left the UK our host Isobel was most welcoming arranging pick up at the airport. We woke up the next morning to the most amazing view and fantastic breakfast on the veranda. There is no better view anywhere in Santa Theresa. The building is 60's art deco with a great conservatory with views for when it gets cooler.   The Sant Matre is a pretty newish and modern building with stunning view over Lapa and RJ Central. The staff is very friendly and helpful.   Santa Teresa is a wonderful neighborhood from which to explore Rio, we're so glad we stayed there! The staff was so helpful and we were extremely grateful for their skills in English. - Nice location in Santa Teresa, helpful staff (even the kitche staff spoke English - a rareity in Brazil!) and nice rooms.

During my stay I visited the city a - The location is great. Every thursday and friday night, in the small square near the hostel, there is a spontaneous gathering of neighbors. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet the locals, drinking beer and speek portuguese. We had a very good time there. The staff is very friendly and you feel safe all the time.

  This is one of the best places we have ever stayed. Andreas and Raphael (co-owners) are really very helpful and friendly, without being over-bearing. They also both speak excellent English too. The room was spotlessly clean and furnished really well with great bedding and towelling etc. The breakfast was as - The hotel is located in one of Rio's oldest and culturally richest areas - Urca. Located 15 mins. drive from Centro (the CBD) makes it very suitable for quick business trips. At night the boulevard across the road packs a small crowd attending the nearby small bars and restaurants. The place has it all: a small beach at walking distance that you pass on your way to one of Rio's oldest and most infamous restaurants: Bar Urca. The hotel itself is well run - friendly staff and hospitable manager.
