The tv only had 3 channels and the breakfast area was not that clean but the rooms were immaculate
The people working at the front desk are very helpful and nice. Location is at 200-300m distance from the noisy transit center. From Old Town transit center you can go by public transport fast to any point in San Diego or you can visit different attractions from surroundings.
The carpet need to be cleaned.

the staff is friendly and accomodating. I have stayed here in the past and would stay here over and over again. I originally found this hotel as a home base while working in town. Great family hotel as well
Location right near the freeway and Old Town (did not hear the freeway noise at all). Liked the window in the bathroom, comfortable bed. Liked the use of a sheet rather than a bedspread-cleaner and it looked fine.
No hot chocolate at the breakfast. Otherwise a pretty good continental breakfast.
Loved loved loved this hotel! Staff was really helpful, the room was gorgeous, and we were stoked to be so close to the Old Town. I definitely recommend this place for folks traveling to San Diego on a budget-- I know I'll be returning on my next trip.
Part of the charm of this place, for me, was that it was a tiny bit run down. Like I said, I don't mind that at all, but if you are the type of person that likes things perfect and shiny that might be a con.

It's location is great, with Old San Diego just across the street. Had a decent wi-fi. Staff was ok. They did the best they can. Great place for the money.

Had to change rooms and had to come back 2 times in a in a 3 hour period before we got a room. Very little of breakfast bar available as to a large group.
The Location was good, Located next to San Diego transit. One of there maids helps me with laundry. They have a laundry & dryer which is pretty cool.

i don't understand some of these people with their negative reviews! you get what you pay for people if you want 5 star then fork it out!! with that said! I loved this hotel the staff was amazing and the breakfast was great had waffles and coffee the whole weekend. location was walking distance from many resturants and bars and the tram is right there! sea world is an easy 5 min drive. and mission beach was an easy 7 min drive! this location was just fantastic. the room had a fridge which most cheap hotels don't have so that was great. it was a nice cheap place to sleep at and explore for the weekend. the staff was so nice and let us change our days like three times that weekend lol. (we didn't know what day we wanted to leave). will be back! 10 stars!

Hotel was very quite, could not hear people next to or above us. Hotel was opposite direction of hotel circle so not as much traffic. Large room. Not bad if you just need a place to stay room is clean despite carpet.
Carpets were dirty, bottoms of my feet were dirty from walking around in room.

It was clean and reasonably quiet. The first two rooms assigned had noisy plumbing leaks ... drip, drip, drip ... so we had to change rooms twice when checking in.
On 2 days, the continental breakfast didn't have any dry cereals as they did on the other days. They also didn't have any bananas. I felt sorry for a German couples with two adorable young sons who probably had no way of knowing where a regular grocery store was located.

Breakfast was good but only1 staff person assigned seemed stressed-should have had some help. Also, I was unable to get refill of orange juice; pastries were removed before all eaten on my first day.

We rented two rooms for two nights. At the check out we were told that second night we switched one of the rented room. That was really strange. How they get this idea? It was really upsetting.

I didn't like that our in room coffee was not replenished. Just had coffee in room first morning. Also shampoo and body soap not replaced.
Bed was comfortable and the room clean. The nearness to Old Town was appreciated since we ate both dinners there.
I definitely left my pajamas hanging on the door of the bathroom and housekeeping said they didn't find them.

Very good value for the money, with simple breakfast provided (including waffles!). No elevator to second floor and no whirlpool at the small swimming pool. Just across the street from historic Old Town with shopping, restaurants and museums. Nice 20 minute walk or jog up Presidio Hill, also basketball court, are across the street also.
Very good place to stay although our sat nav had trouble finding the place.

Breakfast, for the money it is not a big deal but if I had come with my family and counted on the complimentary bfast as a meal on my holiday it would be a rude awakening. It was slow time in San Diego and it still took 45 minutes to gain acces to the single waffle maker. Fruit was old and the pastries were pure sugar.
The staff at Padre Trail has always been terrific, really nice and knowledgable regarding questions concerning the area! I've stayed with them for years. Great people and value for the money, excellent location!

The location and the price was the best. Convient to everything we wanted to do on our trip. We were able to walk to Old Town for dinner and shopping. The front office staff were extrememly helpful. We will stay here again on our next trip to San Diego.

The rooms were large, clean and had everything needed for a 2 night stay. The location was great to all types of transportation and the transportation hub is right at the entrance of Old Town. The room were quite and the staff was helpful.

A burned out light in the bathroom was not replaced. They would not accept a check for a deposit, even 4 weeks in advance.
