  The staff were so friendly and welcoming and all, especially the concierge Ray, went out of their way to help. We felt genuinely welcomed and appreciated the insider tips on using a Munipass or finding a good place to eat. Excellent public transport to Fisherman's Wharf or city centre. It was also great value for money. - The staff were excellent: friendly and helpful and were able to give us great tips. The cookies were a huge hit with the children and the access to hot tea ( something not so common in USA) was wonderful! The hotel was quiet and although the eating area for breakfast is small, there was never a problem finding somewhere to sit and eat. Having parking was also excellent.

  This hotel is perfect: being a few blocks from the city's downtown means you don't get the "undesirable" local residents outside the door. However, being on the city's main bus line, catching a bus is quick, easy, even exciting.   This was my first trip to sf taking my 13 year old granddaughter. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions, restaurants and ways to travel around the city. The breakfast was simple but all that was needed to start our day plus sitting outside in the courtyard was delightful. The rooms were bright and very clean. The hotel is in the neighbourhood Marina, which has great restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. It is also well-connected with buses nearby to downtown and to the Golden Gate bridge.

  I'm not sure why this hotel doesn't get better reviews. My girlfriend and I stayed for two days and had a great experience. The staff was friendly, the location was great, room was clean and updated. We stayed in room 404, which I highly recommend. I'm not sure sure why so many people complain at Da Vinci Villa on here, I would recommend it to everyone - Terrific suite with fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Welcoming and helpful staff. Good continental breakfast, with fresh fruit, pastries, and bagels, bread, preserves etc. Great location for walking to Fishermans Wharf etc, or the great value bus into the city.

  The Hayes Valley Inn is located in a wonderfully eclectic neighborhood with a number of interesting shops and galleries. I much preferred my stay, here, to staying downtown in the Union Square area, where most of the "tourist' hotels are located. The price $67.00/night was unbelievable!
