  We arrived before check-in time, and our room was not ready as we had anticipated. Still, staff was very apologetic. Noting from the reservation that it was our 51st Wedding Anniversary that day, they upgraded our room! It was beautiful, and we were really touched. I would reserve that same room again, even at the higher rate. Every time we requested assistance - with a cab, etc. - - The staff was friendly and helpful. There is no elevator at the hotel, and the bellman carried both of our large, heavy suitcases to our room with a smile on his face. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was excellent. The hotel was centrally located within Carmel, and it was very easy to walk to the beach and the shops/restaurants in town. A charming experience.

The people of Hofsas House were warm and welcoming. I would absolutely stay there again.

And... The breakfast was beyond my expectations. I would not only recommend The Colonial Terrace to friends, but would like to return again.

The only slight downside was noise from the road but that was just during the day. It was peaceful throughout the night.
