The staff were superb. The location on the Bar Harbor coast was unbeatable. The buildings and grounds are exceptionally well maintained. My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary and spent six nights at Bar Harbor Inn, and my wife has since told me that my selection of hotels was perfect. While in Bar Harbor, we made it a point to try as many restaurants as possible. The meal at the Reading Room was our best experience. The lobster pie was incredible!.

For picking it sight unseen (except for pictures on the Internet) we were very pleased with choosing the Bar Harbor Inn and delighted with the overall experience. We had a problem with the room being over a noisy breakfast room and we are light sleepers. The staff offered us another comparable room without us even asking and gave us a coupon for a reduced meal in their restaurant which had fabulous food. The view from the room was incredible. The Bar Harbor Spa and Inn was relaxing, provided an awesome view of the harbor, had friendly and helpful staff, and was conveniently located to shopping, tours, and eating places. The Reading room restaurant has an awesome chef who is talented and offers a great tour. Lovely location, beautiful shore walk, clean and comfortable room, plenty of parking, ease of access to town, great food and drink options. Loved watching sunrise and sunset over the ocean. Amazing views from all rooms; great covered porch. We thought the Bar harbor Inn was one the nicest places we ever stayed. We have done some extensive travel and have never got the kind of service that we had during our stay. The location is just beautifull. The place was not as elegant as I thought it would be. Decks need painting and chairs were covered in green mold. Nothing. One of the two beds was sagging in the middle and not comfortable. Fortunately, the other bed was in better condition; firmer. Booked late and didn't get an ocean view, which was our first desire when deciding to go to Bar Harbor. Will definitely return but book earlier. I can't think of anything that we didn't like. At check in, I was told that breakfast was free yet I was charged. Very nice updated bathroom. It's not worth the price,sorry. We did not get new soap and shampoo each day we were there. We only received soap on the first day. It was a 4 person room and we were only given 2 mints each day. It seems trivial but this definitely made an impression. Hotel soap is small to begin with and it gets even smaller when sharing it with another person for a couple of days. Our children ages 18 and 20 years old were disappointed the hot tub was not open. Can't think of anything. There were only a few rooms occupied and yet all of us were next to each other so it made it less romantic and felt crowded when it didn't need to. Space out occupied rooms, even just one empty room between would be great when the hotel is mostly empty. The hot tube in the adjoining room was rather loud. Fortunately it was not used excessively. The rooms are outdated. The entire hotel needs a facelift. Can't think of anything I didn't like. Nothing. Bed matress, rolled to middle, when lied on. Water pressure in shower. Asked front desk to look into it, changed shower head, minimun improvement. Wi-Fi - spotty. There was nothing to dislike. Our first room location overlooking a parking lot!. Although the room had a flat screen TV none of the channels were in high definition and the aspect ratio made everything wide. I fiddled with the stings, and I know what I'm doing, but nothing helped. Bathroom heater did not modulate very well and it got too hot in the bathroom. The drive to get there on back roads. In Reading room for breakfast, some of staff too loud, I'm waking up, you know, don't care for loud voices that early, 7 am. Need to use inside voices. Only one thing - the safe door in the cupboard (room 712) wouldn't shut and kept banging on to the cupboard door or your head if you were near. This was only a small thing, but you asked... I was only there one night. "Old" smell in Oceanview rooms. No indoor pool. Buffet staff rude and stopped replenishing food an hour before close. the food was pretty bad. would stay there again, wont eat there again.
