After reading mixed reviews about the yorvik hotel I was slightly worries and wasn't sure what to expect however was a lovely hotel with friendly staff and also very clean.being opposite the york gardens which leads you straight to the city centre, great location for a short break in york, room was clean,tidy and spacious. Bathroom also very clean and spacious. Would go back again and recommend it to anyone visiting york for a city break.

Breakfast added as again priced right at £4.95 and was very pleased with quality and selection. For the cost of the stay could not fault the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of all the famous sites of York and York Minster, so ideally located. The rooms are small, but well equipped with coffee and tea making facilities an spa bath and rain shower. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a real treat - freshly prepared full English!. Absolutely amazing location, overlooking beautiful historic ruins and a stone throw from the river and city centre. We were in the room above reception which was OK (could have been worse) but overall, the value for money could not have been beaten. The staff were immaculate and very helpful. Provided information and saved us cash on tourist attractions. Breakfast was good and good value. Loved being opposite historic ruins. Nice view of garden at back. Quirky layout and quiet. This hotel is in a brilliant location. So close to the city by walking through the lovely museum gardens. Easy access to a car park and reasonable charge (if purchased via hotel). Can not fault the location and value for money. This was our third stay and once again we enyoyed the Jorvik.Location is perfect for exploring York, staff friendly and helpful. For the price we paid would recommend and would stay again. The hotel was central to York on a well-lit street, pleasantly near the river and river walks. Staff were pleasant and cooperative. Our bedroom was warm and pleasant. The beds were excellent. A good standard of accommodation. We paid £60 for a double room for one night - excellent deal for a prime location. It's location very close to everything and in a quiet area. within easy walking district of most places of interest. lovely large bed, lovely jaquzzi, breakfast great value. Location was fab , great breakfast and shower was good. Bed was only a standard double, small for us! Bathroom was cramped and tiny, and jet shower didn't work, or at least we couldn't figure out how to activate it! Wi-fi only available in public areas, not the room. Received limited intruction/information when checking in i.e. breakfast location. Couldn't fault anything!. Ive stayed in the hotel twice now and if I had to pick fault it would have to be the beds. They are a tad uncomfortable but could maybe do with new ones. However saying that I would stay at this hotel again with no hesitation. N/A. The shower temperature in our bathroom was not adjustable and therefore water temperature too hot to use.But that was okay as we just used the bath instead. If considering future refurbishment/replacement ,perhaps it would be more useful to install a simple bath and power shower,and supply a hairdryer?. Staff were very laid back which is nice and if you asked they were helpful it just didnt feel like a hotel in that you werent greeted as you walked in they were all chatting in reception and moved aside to let you through and you had to say why you were there which is not a big thing but felt quite odd, however at the price we paid for the room i would reccommend this hotel. Breakfast was never to be repeated. The coffee was very poor. The poached eggs were rock hard. Toast was cold when we wanted to eat it. The extractor fan in our en-suite bathroom did not work and could be made to work while we were there. One of the lights in the en-suite bathroom did not work. The corridors were very cold - and in a very cold snap, that was not fun. Wifi was a disappointment. It was - as advertised - available in reception but had limited access. There was no Internet signal in our room so if it was essential, this would be a problem. Thankfully, York City provide wi-Fi once you are in the city. Breakfast was lovely, but more choice would have been prefured. Machine to make your own tea at breakfast. Messy with teabags and no place to put the used ones. Would have preferred a pot of tea. The coffee machine is terrible, rooms could do with a good deep clean as rather dusty. WIFI just can be used at public area which is a bit inconvenient. The shower was awkward to operate properly. Nothing!. The beds were not that comfortable. Noise (arguments) from the above. No sport channel. Ladybirds all over. Brakfast: cooked breakfast not very appealing or tasty, buffet offered rather slim choice of cereals and fruit. There was nothing we didn't like. no wifi assess in the room, only in public area. Twin beds were a bit narrow but otherwise comfortable. Nothing to complain about really. Website didn't inform us that the hotel had an offer for parking so we spent £11 more than necessary!. Nothing, this is our 3rd year of stopping at the yorvik at Christmas time. Reception area needs updating. Unheated bathroom on cold November nights. Could have used a chair in the room and would have appreciated more than two hangers in wardrobe!. Nothing. no bin in bathroom, toilet was in a very tight corner, could only just fit in there. quite a lot of stairs for older folk !!. Bed had a couple hairs on it a lot of dust at back of bed but can't be perfect lol jacuzzi bath wasn't working fully.
