The exceptional friendliness of the young staff was a joy to behold. They were clearly very proud to work at the Raithwaite and nothing was ever too much trouble. The welcome and help on arrival and the service in the restaurants at both dinner and breakfast were first class. The restaurant staff are particularly knowledgeable offering alternative suggestions to meet a pescatarian diet. The room and bathroom are well appointed and comfortable. We were accommodated in the separate new 'wing.

Being on my own, without overstepping the bounds of professionalism, they went out of their way to be accommodating, It was unfortunate that I needed a Doctor during my stay. This was arranged by Sian with the care of a daughter. The restaurant manager of the Keep was equally sincere and interested in his guests. This isnot often the case in a Spa r. Fantastic location near the beautiful beach at Sandsend. An attractive modern hotel with many luxury features; lovely furniture in the public areas, delightful pool and spa. Young staff who are eager to help; particularly Paul, the barman in The Keep, and Charlotte in the Spa, who gave us great ideas for places to visit and are great ambassadors for the hotel. A rose garden that was heady with scent and a very nice gardener who presented me with a rose on my birthday!. The service and attention to detail. ...the hotel is modern and has extremely good facilities. Set in beautiful north yorkshire and so accessible to the sea side. Staff are spot on and genuinely appear to enjoy their jobs. Nothing too much trouble and always a treat to stay at Raithwaite.I eould especially like to pay compliment to Adam Treloar who always has a smile on his face and a natural talent in this type of business...well done Adam. Room was not very big but adequate for our 2 night stay. We ate in the Poachers Bar and the food was lovely especially the desserts they were yummy. We used the spa a couple of times and also had a massage which was wonderful. Would recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing break. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. The room was superb with a small outside space and a luxury bathroom. The spa was heaven and immaculately clean. The gourmet restaurant was superb and the service wonderful, we have recommended Raithwaite Hall to everyone and would love to return. Hotel in a lovely location within beautiful grounds. Upon arrival Richard showed us around and explained everything which was very helpful. Room was clean and well equipped if a little small. Enjoyed the spa facilities, the gardens and the restaurant. The rooms were really well appointed and our little private balcony was lovely. The staff were very well trained and were very polite and helpful. The location is excellent, a short walk from the beach. The staff was ever so friendly always with a smile and the hotel was beautiful clean and luxurious. In line with the majority of British hotels in this price range there was no fridge. Why? On an extremely warm night the lack of air conditioning was an issue, accentuated by the under floor heating from the bathroom, however a request for a fan was accommodated swiftly and cheerily and this went a long way to resolving the matter. My room was like an oven. But my answer to that was to walk down to the sea and swim. England may soon have to address the issue of air con even in bedrooms.I Did not mention about the excessive heat, but I feel sure that hed I dne so, an attempt would have been made to rectify it. Oh and a word of mention to the very young little porter who ferried things between the two buildings. What a treat to meet a really genuine lad. Told me it was his best job ever !. Whilst the food was good it was also very expensive. Nothing not to like. Buffet breakfast bar rand out of food and there was a short wait for it to be re-stocked. Couldn't access guest wifi and I'm a geek so it wasn't user error! Building work near the entrance driveway Turn down service without any chocolates seemed pointless :). A little overpriced in my opinion. Especially in the bar and restaurant where we had to top up our own wine glasses. There wasn't one thing we didn't like. The restaurant was far too small. We could only get our meal at 9pm or 6pm so we ate in the bar instead. In the morning we had to wait for a table for breakfast. There is a lot of building work going on. The walks in the grounds were too muddy and we had to turn back, even though we had walking boots on. A walk on bark clippings or similar would be nice. Nothing. Our room was quite hot and we were unable to regulate the temperature. There was not much not to like but we were disappointed with the meal in the restaurant at night. We are however not used to nouveau cuisine but my venison was not cooked as I asked & even after sending it back it was still not cooked as requested - medium. the chop was fine but fillet disappointing the 3 cooked chips were fatty too. It was tasty but not enough on quantity for that we felt it was way overpriced.Perhaps a salad selection would be a popular addition to the menu. Restaurant tables were a little small. The treatments were excellent but I found them a little over priced for what you got. But other than that it was hard to fault anything at the Estate. Food in the bar was average at best. letsbookhotel.com did not / do not offer all the rooms which are available at the hotel, some at considerably lower price; consequently it is worth seeing what other rooms are available / price etc by ringing the hotel. Rare in my experience for this to happen with letsbookhotel.com. Only stayed for 3 nights!. Room noisy K1110, far to hot, poor sleep as a result. Fair value (at moment) as per email to hotel. (No reply as yet) Unlucky with room in new part. Patio door wouldn't lock, noisy extractor had to use isolator, carpet badly fitted. Noise through adjoining door. FIREWORKS beware would check first for function. Nothing. Unfinished building areas (obv. unavoidable but a bit of an eyesore at the moment!), our morning paper wasn't delivered (a minor gripe), my kipper at breakfast was overcooked (though my complaint was dealt with satisfactorily and I received a refund on additional charge). The remoteness of the main car park but it spoiled nothing of our stay. Loud music in the bar area at certain times. A bit too intrusive when trying to relax/talk. Particularly didn't like the jazz. Nothing. Bit expensive so budget may restrict staying more than a couple of nights. So deal rates would be a good idea for future. The conservatory could have been furnished, and a place to sit and read, but instead was bare, and just set up for conferences. Seems a waste. Also more shelving would have been helpful in the bathroom. Room was a little small and had too few surfaces to put things on. Nothing. Nothing. It lived up to our expectations and deserves its 5 star rating. The lack of parking for residents of hotel. A wedding was taking place and the guests took over the one and only car park close to entrance. As a paying resident of hotel, not appropriate we had to leave our car half way down the drive way. Liked it all, even the weather was fabulous. Having to leave & return home!. Our room was 303 which only had Velux windows, so being in the beautiful surroundings was wasted because we could only see the sky! It was a well equipped room though, except that there was no mini bar/fridge. There was nothing we didn't like. No windows in room, only skylight ones. No bath. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with the meal- the steak was "very well hung" and not fit for consumption. The response from staff was not as apologetic as one would expect nor was the remuneration offered. The pillows were alittle to hard for my likeing ,but it wont stop me from booking again it was a lovely hotel. There was nothing to dislike about this hotel, it was first class. There was a half eaten packet of biscuits left as complitmentarys, no bin for rubbish in the room and the spa was not as luxurious as you would hope for the cost of the hotel. We wanted to use the spa but the whole pool area was so unbearably hot, we couldn't. We didn't want a sauna but it was all like a sauna! Did not have treatments but would have liked to swim and jacuzzi. no exterior seating facilities to rooms so the balcony was a waste. We told them it was our Golden Wedding Anniversary on booking and wanted a special table for our evening dinner. A reply came back that one was reserved. No such luck and no-one aware of our anniversary. Poor commercial sense for this venue. Nothing. Our room was a court yard room which was outside the hotel building. So not too happy about that although it was only across from the front entrance. Nothing; Excellent facility!.
