Without exception, the staff were delightful. Extremely helpful in terms of the stay but also shared knowledge about local area- walks,shopping etc.Flexible about check in / out times - welcomed early and wasn't 'rushed' out. The atmosphere at the bar and in the restaurant was excellent and the food superb. Our room was immaculately clean, spacious and well equipped. Great to have a choice of bath and shower.Lovely comfy (and huge) bed provided a good night's rest after a day's walking. A grea.

Food was excellent with a good choice available. The real ales were also in top condition! Thanks to Jooles and everyone for making my stay so enjoyable. Must return!. The welcome from Joules was amazing she could have not been more helpful, she even managed to serve our party breakfast at 7am on Sunday morning. The food and service in the restaurant was fabulous we eat there both on Saturday evening and Sunday lunch. liked everything, food excellent, staff very friendly, spotlessly clean. we were given the sally cottage and couldn't fault it has the best of both worlds self catering if we wanted and pub close enough to eat out nice little stroll before breakfast. The staff are very welcoming and helpfull, great bar area, the food is extremely good and justifies its fine reputation, great location and the inn oozes charm and character. A big well done to the horse and farrier!. The exceptional food and drink available in the relaxing bar/restaurant. The countryside position in the pretty village of Threkeld set beneath Blencathra fell. The friendly staff. No handrail on lower part of staircase. Our room was very small and there was not much of a view from it. all good. The only criticism I would make was the music played on a loop. I love good old country music but when you've heard the same 15 songs over and over you don't stay in the bar or resteraunt too long. Please keep changing the tape!. Our bedroom was very small, and it had a Kingsize bed? It is quite baffling why a Kingsize bed should be installed in such a small room,making it difficult to move around. We stayed in the flat down the road which is lovely but next time would prefer to be staying in the hustle and bustle of the pub, nothing else!!. Stayed in the Salutation which meant we had to eat at the Horse and Farrier, but booked at last minute, next time will ask to stop in the Horse and Farrier. . small room noise until late. Nothing. nothing. the price. Bathroom facilities in the room were a bit cramped - good use of a cupboard!. Our room was across the road at Salutation Inn (?). The room was very dated and quite shabby.
