Overlooking Swanage Bay and the Jurassic Coast, this YHA hostel is 250 metres from Swanage’s Blue Flag sandy beach. It offers affordable accommodation, free parking, a restaurant and laundry facilities. The majority of rooms contain bunk beds. Each morning cooked English and continental breakfasts are available at an extra cost, whilst the restaurant offers traditional meals throughout the day. Guests have use of self-catering kitchen facilities and packed lunches are also available. Guests can relax in the impressive lounge, which boasts wood-panelled walls, luxurious sofas and a huge chandelier. There is also a selection of games, a TV and Wi-Fi access is available in all public areas of YHA Swanage. The Victorian Pier and Swanage Steam railway are both within a 10-minute walk of the YHA Swanage. This beautiful coastal town has a good selection of cafes, restaurants and shops.

My and my bf visited Swanage on the way to Bournemouth. By accident I had booked 2 places in a male dorm for us and only realised it upon the arrival. At 10pm I was facing a horrible vision of sleeping rough on the street !!! I was petrified - how will I find a place when all the places around have been booked? However, the man at the reception was extremely empathetic and helped us immensely. As some guests have left early, I actually gave us a completely separate room! What a relief!... The r.

Perfect for backpackers, groups, travellers etc. Excellent value for money. Hostel in ideal location for exploring a beautiful stretch of the Dorset coastline. Location was great, as was value for money. Beds were really comfy and some of the toilets and showers were quite clean. Some staff were helpful and friendly. Facilities were good- drying room, kitchen, games room etc... Friendly staff and atmosphere. Great location and lovely old building. Fantastic for a family looking for a simple base for exploring Swanage and spending time on the beach. Good breakfast and parking facilities. Very good value, especially if you make use of the self-catering kitchen and dining space. Lots of toilets and showers so no problem accessing them and plenty of (free) parking. Very handy for me-kayaking and fishing !-beach and town centre at the end of the road ,good food around ,nice pubs and friendly locals!,. Great, friendly staff- patient with our young grandsons. Welcoming atmosphere - staff were efficient and relaxed at the same time. It's a lovely hostel, all the services (ag. shared toilets and rooms) were clean; there were also a lot of table games!. Easy location for reaching the town by foot, free car park. Enclosed toilet cubicles. Staff make the difference - good people, very helpful. Great location. Nice breakfast. Building looks very nice from the outside and is well situated, close to the center and the beach. Dorm was very hot overnight with six people. There were also some signs of damp on the dorm wall. (Suggestion for improvement would be to have individual mini lights next to each bed, or at least one smaller lamp in the dorms so that the main light can be switched off when someone is sleeping). The toilets right next to our room were really smelly, like bad mens toilets and didnt appear to be cleaned at all for our 3 day stay. The showers were pretty pathetic- a small trickle. Some staff were really grumpy and unhelpful. The showers were a bit hit and miss with the hot water. Some had a bench to put clothes on others didn't. Only one power socket in the room. The staff were a bit hard to track down at times and perhaps it could do with having one or two more working at the weekends. A long drive to get there,. I disliked nothing. Nothing not to like. I would have preferred a smaller room (I was in a an 8 berth dorm). I would have liked a reading lamp and/or a shelf on the top bunk, I had to leave my glasses in my hand bag overnight as I had no where to put them once in bed and more lamps would have been helpful as 8 people coming in for bed at different times led to most people changing by phone lights once one person had gone to bed. the odd obnoxious client( you always get one who is that far up themselves they can hardly breathe!! ). Carpark was full though there was on-street parking available. Also, this is the only hostel I've stayed in without lockers for your valuables - they only had two for eight dorm beds. Fine if you're staying with friends, but not as a solo traveller. The cost of our stay for the facilities offered, showers and bedrooms in need of upgrade to warrant price of £96 per night for a family which doesn't include breakfast or own ensuite facilities. European/American yha properties charge much less and have ensuite facilities. Could mention the steep hill to get there. dirty downstairs toilet on occasions,. The only problem was that during the night there was no heating or not enough heating and it was a bit cold in the room. *Incredibly* expensive for a Youth Hostel (£31 for 'bunk-bed B&B', including towel hire at £2) - place was very quiet, probably due to cost. i wasnt expecting anything special,so would give the hostel an overall average mark.nothing stood out as being particularly bad or good.an ok place to stay for a night sums it up. Noisy behaviour from other residents. Smelly dirty carpet in dormitory. Tepid , trickling showers. Offhand service at breakfast. , I wasn't staying in hostels for a long time.. Compared prices you can get b&b for the same ammount £25+. Very basic facilities, my daughter refused to use the toilets as other guests had left them in a mess. Lots of noise from other guests late at night and early in the morning. They did not receive your booking for us and we were lucky that they had an available room otherwise we would have had to crawl around Swanage to look for alternative which is not clever when you are walking. -Disgusting shower -Dirty and stinky toilets - High price for such bad, very basic accomodation.
