Particularly the helpful staff. But really most things. I am used to 'no frills' being synonymous with 'poor service and facilities', but here the staff were charming and helpful, and the level of comfort well above the standard provided by many much more expensive hotels. It's location is near the football ground with a choice of fast food outlets for late-night eating if you are on a budget.

Staff very young but eager to please. Dogs are allowed by prior arrangement. Close to Fratton Station. Would stay here again. Thank you Ibis Budget Portsmouth !. The room was clean, sleek and comfortable. Excellent value for money. We were able to park outside the hotel, but if that is full there is is parking in B&Q nearby. Recommend a visit to Gunwharf Quay where good shopping and lots of eating places....a taxi ride away. Excellent location for Fratton Park which was the reason for staying there. Two minute walk to buses into city centre. Although hotel was fully booked we heard no noise from any other source. Extremely good value for money. Nice and clean hotel with basic facilities, located very close to major shops and fast food restaurants. Stayed in a lot worse for a lot more money. A compact room which was excellent for the price. Loved the shower, powerful and hot. Would definately stay at an Ibis hotel again and would recommend it to anyone. great value for money,clean,tidy.friendly staff. fratton train station only 5 mins walk.train from fratton to harbour was only £2.40 return. very good hotel we use this hotel when we travel down to Portsmouth all the time is good for railway station we always travel by train. Location, Cleanliness, power shower, option to cancel till 2pm on the day of arrival. Overall, value for money. Definitely recommend. all staff went out off thier way to give information freely and they was very helpful. the rooms where excellent great value my money. It was about as inexpensive as one could reasonably expect for all the essentials of an overnight stay. The 'all you can eat' breakfast for £5 consists of mainly things that you would not particularly wish to eat (and drink). Breakfast area bit small and incredibly busy No kettle or hairdryers, but fantasic value for money. Hotwater didnt work for a day and half after the storm, but took 50% off our bills for those days. Bed very firm but fuctional. Only needed room for sleeping in so adequate. Only thing I missed was beverage facilities in the room but this balanced with the price, so wasn't a big deal. Slight marks on the bed linen which reflects in my score only being good but would've been excellent otherwise. no tea or coffee making facilitys. I am a regular customer at this place from Mon-Fri on business... Not much room or provision to hang your clothes for a week. Iron is only on request. if a person does not have transport it is a little walk to city centre. Not much of a view being next to storage centre so mirage on windows would be good just so it feels like were away. Would like tea coffee facility in room. Even if basic paper cups!. Room was compact although ample for an overnight stay. Would have liked a kettle and tea etc., in the room. £130 was taken out of my account for a £78 booking and have yet to see it back in my account. I slipped on leaving the shower and although there was a warning about the slippery surface and that one could ask for a mat, I didn't expect to end up prostrate and checking myself for broken bones. The bed wasn't big enough for the 3 of us,me and my 9/5 year old also to close for comfort,don't know if other rooms are bigger,but that was to small. It had no kettle or tea facilities. this ment that I had to go down 4 floors to reception and sit among strangers every time I wanted a cup of tea. I didn't expect tea, sugar and milk but a kettle and a cup would have been handy. no tea facility in room, just a kettle would of been ok. I couldnt get on wifi for some reason, although as I arrived late i didnt query this with staff. Would have been nice to be able to make tea in the room. The choice and quality of breakfast could have been better. Didn't have tea making facilities. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. only one pillow each. Only one pillow Thin duvet No big mirror. breakfast area poor - more like a cheap café. Nothing. Tea and coffee faclities in the room or on the floor would be a great added benefit. Apart from MacDonald's, KFC and subway there was nowhere else nearby to eat. Would have appreciated a kettle in the room. There was not coffee making facilities in the room. Clean and tidy. Tea making facilities would have been fabulous. Wish that you did discount for students or regular returning guests as I would stay a lot more. nothing. bed was very uncomfortable, hard. Nothing. Showers and sink in the same room, no privacy. Only 1 pillow each. No tea. A kettle would go down well. No caffine facilities. No parking but I should have checked - my fault. Hence the price to be fair. I wanted to pay with cash (only £39) but i didnt have ID with me so i had to pay with my debit card. I had budgeted some savings for my trip to Portsmouth and wasnt to impressed with this policy. Other than that i couldnt fault it.
