Meaning “flow of roses” in Gaelic, Allt nan Ros is a charming Victorian country house offering beautiful views over Loch Linnhe. Surrounded by a wooded area with a small waterfall to discover, guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. The hotel is in one of the most picturesque areas of the Scottish Highlands, 10 miles south of Fort William. You can walk the West Highland Way, or take a trip to climb Ben Nevis, just 30 minutes’ drive away. Overlooking the loch and with striking views of the Morvern and Appin hills, rooms at Allt nan Ros are cosy and traditionally furnished. Each has a flat-screen TV with Sky channels, and benefits from tea and coffee making facilities. A home-cooked breakfast and light continental options are available in the morning, with meals made from fresh local ingredients. Freshly prepared juice is provided, and an à la carte menu is served through the day.

Having read other reviews I had mixed feelings of how our stay would be and all I can say is for those who wrote a bad review "I don't know what your expectations are!" I have stayed in 5 star hotels and this is by far the the friendliest hotel I've ever stayed in. Rosemary you are a star! I've never felt so relaxed and so welcome. The room was fantastic, breakfast is continental (cooked breakfast is to order at £5 but in honesty there is more than enough if you have continental..plenty fruits,.

Open log fire blazing in the lounge which beat off the cold outside beautifully. Breakfast good - an all-you-can eat continental buffet (a cooked breakfast is extra but not really needed given the quantity of food laid out). Evening meal very good too, wish I'd eaten in on both nights. (The obviously home-made soup was superb). Staff helpful when I asked if I could come down early. We had the most amazing 2 nights at Allt Nan Ross. The staff were unbelievably helpful and accommodating in every aspect. The food is all home made and very delicious. She even made the most beautiful steak pie for us that wasnt on the menu! Rosemary and her team made it feel like a home from home. They made us feel like they welcomed us into their home. it was just wonderful. What a brilliant place to stay if you enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Booked one night and stayed for four. A perfect retreat. The meals were beautiful. The rooms were spacious and the view across the Loch was breathtaking.The staff could not do enough to make our stay memorable. Highly recommended. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. They went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic time away and were able to help with any questions we had. They were very accomodating with friends we had over who were camping even allowing them to shower in a spare room!. Warm welcome from exceptionally friendly staff. We arrived late and the kitchen was closed but the management still brought us a lovely steak pie and chips... Which went well with the honesty bar! Stunning and breathtaking views to wake up to in the morning. Great views over the loch from most rooms (ours was a bit blocked by the building) tea-making facilities car parking easy to find places to eat nearby (The Holly Tree was excellent) friendly staff quiet at night. didn't know what i was booking except for it was a bed and breakfast with lake view, well the place was lovely the staff where brilliant and the views where out off this world, fantastic thanks, 10 out of 10. The room was very comfortable and the location is juts breathtaking being along the Loch Leven. All the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was "lush" . I recommend this hotel. The hotel is an old country home built many years ago. It was quite nice with a very friendly staff, but the hotel is a bit tired, but still nice. Location and views are great. The hotel was beautiful and our luxury king room with loch view was gorgeous and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The dinner was excellent. The rooms and the lounge have a stunning view of the loch. They are also very conveniently located to get to fort Williams. Very friendly staff!. The view from the bedroom was lovely, looking onto the loch. Reception area was welcoming with newspapers and magazines. Beautiful setting. Travelling with 3 well behaved family pets the Annexe provided perfect accommodation for our needs and we certainly intend to visit again. Breakfast is continental, but where the cooked breakfast is missing it is made up for with a choice of bagels, muffins, crumpets, bread and other delights to toast and top. A rather soft bed! room was small - not much room for bags nowhere to hang or put anything in the bathroom - no room for even the hotel towels. A few hooks/shelves would have helped. having to leave in the morning. Taking full payment from my card at time of booking! Although a very nice continental breakfast included in price, it's a £5 additional cost for full cooked one. This was not made clear when booking. nothing!. The food served was quite bad. We had dinner the first night and it was one of the worst we had. Breakfast was equally poor. They definitely need to improve their food service. If you stay there, eat dinner elsewhere. There are a few much better restaurants within a few miles. we were the only guests That night. The fact that I only had a couple of nights there!. The breakfast left much to be desired. The water temperature control in the shower didn't work very well, so we had scalding hot water to bathe with!. The dinner food was not brilliant probably better to head into fort William, breakfast was great though. poorly stocked bar, 1 white wine or red wine option - no draft beer. It would be helpful to have a light on the road side sign. there was, unfortunately, a strange smell in the room, so we had to have the window open all the time, it took 2 days to issue the invoice (once received it was issued on wrong address, however we got one). We had a room on the upper floor and water pressure, particularly in the shower, was not good. No internet in the guest rooms. Breakfast was poor. Not enough variety i.e. crossiants, bread rolls etc. nothing. rooms are a bit outdated, but gives an authentic feel to it. Lack of toiletries in bathroom. Stairs. Quite out of the way. This may be a plus for some. The bathroom is too old and shabby. The breakfast was shambolic, no cups and saucers on the tables then the cups came but no saucers and no milk jugs for your tea, it was very faulty towers. Breakfast was good, but the continental breakfast didn't have any meat. Could of done with better WiFi. Old-fashioned hotel short staff. the bar had no draught beers,and it shut at 23-00hrs. We also had a problem with hot water there were periods where you could only describe it as luke warm. Not cyclist friendly, no thought as to where to put bikes. Staff not quite providing genuine good service. Was nearly good, but just lacked the impetus to compare with better establishments ... A disappointment. Staff were rude, did not make me welcome as I had a small dog even though I had pre warned them. I was stuck out in the annex out of the way, did not get hot water or heating until 10.30. Staff making noise above my room all night. Cold with v little hearing for first 24 hours. Lukewarm water for baths on 2 occasions. went in mid afternoon to enquier about a second night and the only person on duty appeared to be a polish girl who spoke no english and could only shrugg and say polish. The breakfast was not very appetizing, I had 1 slice of toast, also you have to pay another 5.95 for a cooked bfast which they shoukd not advertise as bfast included in price! Rooms are needing updated pillows all stained did . Even though we had ordered an earlier breakfast the staff did not know. We were not informed of where things were and were not offered tea or coffee. Our cooked breakfast came when we were eating muesli/fruit-even though we had asked for it to come afterwards. This happened two mornings in a row. On the last day another travelller waited for over 40mins for her breakfast and was most upset as she had a bus to catch. tired/dated hotel.
